Had a mammogram a while back at a woke hospital (indicated my preferred name & pronouns on my medical wristband although I was never asked). Decided to use visit to do a tiny bit of activism: complained to 3 female employees about the promotion of gender identity, a religion, on my wristband, saying I found it offensive. Two women were...meh but the 3rd, the mammogram tech, was great. She expressed horror at the thought of a female-identifying male tech doing mammograms, and revealed to me that a "trans woman" (sic) HAD applied for a tech position there, but had not been hired. She also said that some women there...modest women, women with life-threatening cancer, would not submit to a mammogram performed by a man. She wished me luck, and was happy that I was speaking out!

Women of Reddit...watch out! The next time you go for a mammogram, the tech may be a TIM. On the flip side, however, the gender identity lobby has got to know just how bad it would look for a TIM to be hired to take mammograms...to perform intimate and breast-flattening-between-glass-plates procedures...on cancer patients or potential cancer patients.

We're entering Jessica Yaniv-bad optics for their movement if they were truly intent on promoting this.

Go, you beautiful courageous woman!

Honestly, as rare as TIMS are purported to be, they sure do show up in places where they most certainly are not welcome A LOT.

Yes, to date their numbers may be few, but they do tend to gravitate to places where they believe their female gender identities will be validated...women's spaces in particular.

Good for you!

I'm sure some dumbass will hire a TIM to do mammograms eventually. Then they'll just call any woman who complains a bigot or a TERF and threaten to not do their mammogram if they object.

Its a power play. They know these women likely cannot afford to cancel the appointment and reschedule a new one (which might necessitate missing work, getting child care, not being able to get a new appointment for weeks, etc). So they figure the woman will just submit to a man doing this intimate procedure so she can get it over with.

Its so gross. I was once yelled at by a doctor when I said I was uncomfortable with him being in the room during an intimate pregnancy exam (I thought the nurse would be doing it). It was to check for abnormalities in my pregnancy. And he yelled, "Do you want the results or not?"

I imagine this will be what women will deal with every time they're met with a male doctor when they were told they'd get a female one.

I think they'll promote it. And yes, it will be Yaniv-bad optics for them. But there are a lot of people who are quite insulated in their bubble and are not even aware of how it will come off.

So they'll do it, yes, they'll get a TIM in there doing mammograms, on cancer patients. And there will be a reaction to it, and the most visible part of that reaction is going to come from conservatives.

I've had miscarriages and given birth. I've had countless pelvic exams. I've had surgeries, including surgeries on intimate places. And I still don't think I ever felt so vulnerable as I have during mammograms. You're topless, alone in a room with a mammogram tech, and they often have to manipulate the tissue over the plates to ensure the best view. It's incredibly ... idek the right term for it. But I would never want a male in that space and certainly not touching me. If I walked in to see a male mammogram tech, I'd walk back out and never return.

Thank you for speaking out.

That is TERRIFIC! So glad you said something!

It's interesting...the top down imposition of gender identity ideology and intrusion of female-identifying males in women's spaces is what provides an entre' into these conversations. If the hospital had not imposed she/her preferred pronouns on my medical wristband without my consent, I would never have had the fire/ the drive to speak to the women in the mammography clinic.

Likewise, if the Port Towsend YMCA had not banned Julie Jarman from the pool after she complained about a female-identifying male in the women's showers, I would not have the drive to plan my next bit of small activism: speaking to a group of women with whom I regularly join in aquatic exercizes...older women, women with chronic illnessneses who need the pool for health and socializing. I plan to ask them if they heard about Julie Jarman and her being banned by the YMCA...and, then ask them what they make of it.

Thanks, Watcher. It felt good to do so, especially in finding the 3rd woman so receptive to my ideas.

Word will get out if these places hire TIMs. They WILL lose business. We must be vocal when we discover TIMs working in places like this.

No way, handling women's breasts? Imagine the erections. Gawd no.

I dare them.

I, of course, don't want vulnerable women...especially women subject to breast cancer...to miss out on mammograms...but, I do think a female-identifying male mammagram technician...one that causes scores of women to decline mammography exams, one that is far from passing, would be prime to peak the public.

Honestly, getting a regular dude as a mammogram tech would be better than getting a TIM. At least the regular dude would likely dress/act professional and not come into the room with gaudy makeup and Harley Quinn scrubs or whatever
