I resubscribed to The New York Times Trans. Why?

One, it's having a $1 a week for a year subscription sale - I can afford that.

Two, I'd like to comment on its articles on the gender wars.

And, three, and.... most importantly, the very recent excellent, neutral article it published questioning gender affirmation care and the provision of puberty blockers.

Moreover, in resubscribing, it was imperative for me to let its editors know that this small move toward writing more balanced, neutral articles on gender identity ideology was the #1 reason.

Additionally, I informed them that, in addition to promoting the views of trans activists such as Jack Turban, M.D., I also now expect them to platform the views of prominent neutral or even gender critical experts on the gender wars... experts such as Kara Dansky, Jesse Singal, Katie Herzog, Helen Joyce, and Drs. Emma Hilton, Collin Wright, Ross Tucker, and Carol Hooven.

And, finally, I mentioned more articles about the erasure of the female sex class and loss of women's sex-based occurring due to trans ideology were expected.

Will they listen? Don't know. But I was given the option of signing up to be a paid member of focus group-subscribers - would love to give them an earful.

And, if the NYT doesn't change, I'm out less than $60 for the year, and I can once again cancel my subscription-- with comments as to why, of course.

I unsubscribed a couple of years ago after my comment on a trans related piece, which was the second highest rated by readers, was deleted with no explanation. I asked them multiple times to explain why my comment had been deleted. I finally got some lame excuse about it having been done by some kind of algorithm and that they had hired a new company to moderate their comments. I unsubscribed that day and told them why.

I think there are a lot of us out there. I'm not ready to sign up again. I've seen what they do and I no longer trust their reporting or their motives.

Same thing has happened to me multiple times (minus the actually getting a response from them part).

Too soon for me personally. NYT never let my bland comment (basically saying "I'm glad NYT finally published something") on that article out of moderation. They're not committed to highlighting gender-critical voices - not at all. They're simply covering their asses for now.

I've stayed subscribed (primarily because I can point to my decades-long subscription and complain accordingly) but I write them frequently and complain.

Brava. It might be a good idea to print out your letter on paper and snail-mail it to new editor and his team, as well as to the two women who wrote the piece on "puberty blockers."

They have been better lately. As recent as 6-10 months ago 100% of my gc comments would not be published, even when I was being super careful and not "misgendering" anyone. Now maybe 3/4 get through. I just don't understand how dems can keep this up while even all the top comments on nytimes are gc. Literally who are they pandering to, just tiktok?

So smart to let them know why you're subscribing. And for people who already took advantage of the low subscription rate in past sales, it's extremely easy to extend that rate (just say you'll cancel if they don't lower the rate): https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRQamN2F/

Good, I think that feedback is valuable as a counterbalance to the hate they'll be getting from transactivists, and may encourage them to listen to women in the future. Well, I can dream.
