In which it is pointed out that adding paywalled video to Twitter will inevitably create a cascade of gross, woman-hating, and illegal p*rnography.

There is a danger that Musk may be blinded by hubris

There is no danger that Musk is not blinded by hubris

sexual violence and abuse is mainstream porn

So true

Musk wields enormous power since his purchase of Twitter. As he states, it has become the de facto “town square”, and with its purchase comes enormous responsibility. Whether he likes it or not, the choices he makes will have an immense effect, felt around the world.

This is where we stand. The super-rich make policy and the rest of us survive in the spaces allowed.

Wouldn't selling illegal pornography through such a feature make Twitter criminally liable?

After all, it is undeniable that Musk is a tech savant. This is where the danger lies; it is not a problem that can be solved merely by introducing “more tech”. Fundamentally, it is not a tech problem. It is a porn problem.

He's a great salesman, not a tech savant. The porn problem can only be solved by making it illegal. As long as it isn't, there will be those wanting to make money off of it like Musk.

I don't understand the ins and outs of US law (or other jurisdictions). But plenty of platforms are already getting away with this, from what I've read.

Yes, it is irritating to hear these billionaires (Bill Gates as well) described as tech savants or the like. They are not. What they are is brilliant, ruthless, and lucky business people.

Yeah this won't end well for anyone but him. I don't understand why anyone would be thrilled by him buying a social networking platform in the first place. He owns Neuralink which "allegedly" abused and killed monkeys while they underwent experimental surgery to have neuralink chips implanted. And he wants his creepy brain chip technology to be developed for use in humans eventually. Now he owns twitter?! He is a caricature of a supervillain imo
