Good point. I feel like women and girls are being collectively groomed to dismiss their very valid fears and gut instinct in order to ensure that the boners of porn-sick men are prioritized over their own safety and pleasure.
And the absolute hypocrisy of the "don't kink shame me" mob who love mocking and shaming women for having any kind of sexual boundaries.
There was a stat I read a while ago that still haunts me- 38% of UK women aged 18 to 39 have experienced unwanted choking, slapping, spitting or gagging during consentual sex. Then, there is also the alarming trend of women being killed and the boyfriends who choked and beat them are using the 'rough sex' defense and trying to get away with it. Scary stuff.

"What!? You're afraid of that male in the ladies room!? Stop being hysterical! He just wants to pee! You think EVERY male in the world wants to rape you!? Stop being arrogant!!!"
"No man will ever love you if you only consent to vanilla sex! Choking can be done safely! Just let go of your hangups, you prude! Don't you trust/love your boyfriend?"
It absolutely is collective grooming
It's always really bothered me that media geared toward women is just built on making you not trust your own sense of fear. They should tell women it's okay to not want to be choked by their boyfriend. But instead they say here's some ways your boyfriend can still choke you even though you're a nasty prude with a - gasp - sense of self preservation! You monster.
