Wanting to bring more positive activity to this circle- share some wins or positive moments you’ve had with feeling comfortable in your skin. Or share your struggles and how you’re coping.

Hating our bodies is such a common experience for women. We’re always comparing ourselves to unattainable goals. I think many of us here saw the label of “gender dysphoria” as a way of explaining this pain and hatred. And now we’re learning different ways to think about it.

Is there anything that inspires you to make peace and take comfort in your physical embodiment? I find it’s so important for me to make a conscious effort to dwell in my body, not in my head. And to give gratitude towards my body for carrying me through my life’s journey.

I love this poem called Wild Geese by Mary Oliver.

Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Listening to music mostly, I got really into gospel / blues music a few years ago. Like Pastor T.L. Barrett and Samantha Fish.

Maybe a little tawdry but I like it.
