Pretty much exactly what the title says; I'm looking for anime games where the female characters aren't overly sexualised. Taking from my comment in this post, I avoid anime games on principle due to how many treat their female characters as little more than sex objects. However, I am willing (and encouraged) to be proven wrong.

So by anime games, I am referring to any game of any genre that has an anime art style and/or originated from an east Asian country (so Japan, China, or South Korea). Mods of games that desexualise the content (if those even exist) are also allowed.

This can also be a general discussion on anime games as a whole. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the latest JRPG, for example, whether you liked it or not :)

Ahh you and I have very different tastes but I totally appreciate you writing this out for me. You are correct I absolutely hate the genre of "cute girls doing cute things" because it's male gazey and not at all how girls act. It's some weird fantasy and I think it fuels TIMs. I miss real shoujo like Skip Beat, Full Moon wo Sagashite and Nana.

I liked Little Witch academia the OVA but got quite bored with the anime and didn't finish.

I have watched In this corner of the world and I had the same thoughts as you.

Yeah, there's definitely a lack of real shoujo these days. Most of the female-targeted anime adaptations these days are more about pretty male casts. I guess it's because men don't watch traditional shoujo, but women will watch traditional shounen.

You miiiiiight enjoy After the Rain (massive age gap relationship, but it's one-sided and not sexual), Ancient Magus Bride (beautiful fantasy worldbuilding but questionable relationship), or Smile at the Runway (traditional shounen formula fashion industry), but aside from likely not being your taste, they're also not great adaptations and I enjoyed the manga a lot more.

OMG Smile at the Runway is exactly something I love! Hoping it will be similar to Paradise Kiss or Skip Beat. Thank you so much for that.

Ancient Magus Bride has been on my list so I should definitely start it up soon. I heard good things.

After the rain was good and the backgrounds incredible!
