Just found this out today that one of my favorite Duolingo characters is being referred to as a " she they " in some versions...

Namely the Spanish version ( which is weird as fuck considering the Spanish language does not really have so called " gender neutral pronouns " the way the English language does with the " singular they " ... Or even nouns and adjectives for that same matter since Spanish nouns and adjectives are ALSO gendered not just the " pronouns " ) ... And of course the character they want to turn into an " enby " is obviously a butch lesbian too... :( : https://duolingo.fandom.com/wiki/Lin

Really sad they are doing this to Lin... They do not include her among the other female characters when celebrating women apparently either due to this apparently... At least it seems to be just a subtle thing rather than an " in our face " kind of thing since the Duolingo courses still seem to be free of genderist nonsense for the time being at least... : https://ovarit.com/test/o/Games/201666/duolingo-is-a-terf/c2858b91-9013-41d9-a11a-f9443cba6c8c#comment-c2858b91-9013-41d9-a11a-f9443cba6c8c

Still sad that Duolingo may not be as gender critical as we thought... :\

Those little cartoon people have names and backstories? Thats news to me! I didn't know this language app had lore! LOL

And its weird that she's only non-binary in Spanish. As far as I know, Spanish doesn't have non-binary pronouns. And the gendered nature of the language makes it difficult to neuter it the way the gender cultists have tried to do with English

Also, I would love to see them try to pull this shit in Hebrew and Arabic lessons! Those languages have even more ridiculous gender rules than French and Spanish! 🤣

It's hard enough learning a language with such gendered words and terms, this is fucking stupid and will screw up people learning. I was trying to learn German and had to stop because the gendered part of it is SO confusing to me. Adding gendy specials into that only makes it worse.

I haven't gotten too far in the course yet, but one sentence she says in Yiddish is, "Ikh bin a froy" (I am a woman).

Because it’s not hard enough learning spanish I’ve now got to bring along colonising ideas as I learn their language and make a complete tit of myself. I’m trying to learn so I can speak to my latino boyfriends mum, not so I can pander for some imbecile on Twitter that doesn’t know what a period is. Fantastic.

I deleted duolingo when who ever was in charge of their twitter account said something derogatory about Amber Herd.

For real? Ugh. Thats disappointing. Why the fuck would a language app need to comment on a DV trial between two celebrities?

Aww. I like Lin. They could do whatever they want to that awful Lily. She's such a downer!
