What’s your opinion on it?

I can say, I’m a bit disappointed from an artist’s perspective because I had hoped that they would lean in to Spain’s culture for the Pokémon designs for this gen, but nope. There’s one fairy Pokémon that looks like it was a scrapped concept for sw/sh that they threw into this game to fill a quota, it’s obvious because it has a rivalry with corvinight, a Pokémon from sw/sh and most Pokémon feel like they would have fit older games better, like farigiraf, the sushi dragon, the Egyptian ostrich, etc…

Also the starters leave a lot to be desired in my opinion, like, Fuecoco is my top pick, but I had hoped that it would evolve into a bull or a dragon from Spanish folklore, how sprigatito could turn out to be a flamenco dancer, because you could easily make it look like it has a dress based on red carnation, the flower of Spain, Quaxly, a Spanish sailor and among other ideas.

The graphics of the game are okay, but it’s not BOTW level yet. Hopefully they will improve on that. I’m hearing a lot of players are unhappy with it, but I stand at a 5/10 for the game atm, don’t hate it but it’s meh in my eyes.

I'm fairly convinced some higher-ups who work for Gamefreak or whoever comes up with the Pokémon designs is a furry. My friends and I literally played "is it a furry, an OF model promoting her work, or a Pokémon?" with some cropped pictures of the final starters evolutions. Fuecoco's final evo is the least atrocious but it still looks like a cheap fakemon you'd find on DeviantArt. Also, I smelled something fishy when I noticed the designs for most npc characters - most look like annoying 💫 qwirky gender specials uwu 💫 and that's never a good sign.

To me the biggest offender is that you can't enter homes and that nurse Joy and other similar NPCs have the same face wherever you go. They just needed to give them different hairstyles, eye colours, little details that don't require to create whole new models. As for the houses, you could enter every single home in previous generations (Sw/Sh excluded) and they'd have different designs and people you could interact with. Here they feel like those fake carton houses you see in fun parks as decorations. If it's an open game, this ruins the fantasy because it doesn't feel like a real, living world.

I won't buy it, unless they discount the 💩 out of it and I have nothing else to play at the moment.

Im deeply uncomfortable about the weird TIM-esque npcs I keep seeing in the world. At least penny is still she/her, but it’s definitely feels like they are slightly leaning towards trying to pander.

I wonder who’s handling the designs these days because the Pokémon look awful. My most hated designs are buzzwole, Incineroar, and those god awful thundurus quadruplets that are an eyesore on the eyes.

It’s 2022 and the games they are making feel like you would see them around 2010.

I’m starting seeing this is a problem with modern games, where game is overhyped but when it comes out it runs like shit, but it makes a lot of money so developers can laugh their way to the bank and keep cranking out awful games, without responsibility.

Thank you for pointing that out - I was wondering why so many women had oversized shoulders, and google was giving me nothing. I wondered if Spanish women were known for being muscular or something. It was nice to see at first (because some women do have them), but the frequency with which they were appearing is disturbing.

I was glad to see Penny though, and the fact that the game still refers to the Pokemon as single beings rather than multiple people. The game also lets you choose sex at the start of the game, despite 'disguising' the question in a way that is very counter-productive to feminism. Pokemon has always been very good about female characters, so it would be sad if they were headed down the trans-pandering route.

Isn't it part of Pokémon lore that all the nurses look the same? It's a running joke.

This is the first Pokemon game I've played since Mystery Dungeon came out. I am mildly disappointed, but have overall had fun. It's a fun concept to free roam and lay waste to everything that stands in your way of being the very best. However, I really hate the lack of customization. Yeah I can be cool and wear sunglasses at night, but I'd like a jacket and some pants please. Plus your rival is such a do-gooder clown. Bring back Gary and have him call me some names while he does edgy shit to make my life harder. And don't even get me started on how dumb this whole Team Starfall plot is. So unthreatening and lame. The stakes are so low, and the character designs feel like some genderspecial on Twitter designed them. Also no Mew or Mewtwo is a sin.

10/10.

I want to get it, but the whole two professors thing irks me, as well as the way the villains just look like schoolyard bullies.

It feels like pokémon, and all games for that matter, is just being rushed rather than them taking their time to put heart into their projects.

The villains look like schoolyard bullies because they kind of are. You go to a pokemon academy and team star are all dropouts

I heard that the games are sort of commercials for new merch and new movies, because that's where the real money comes from. So they need to spit one out every year to keep the wheel going, so they can sell you that new super cute bread-dog plushie. What adds insult to injury is that it's actually really hard to get Pokémon merch if you don't like in Japan or the US. The Pokémon Company?? Where is my EU Pokémon Center? Please...

Even movies are rushed. Maybe not pokémon (I haven’t really watched any of the movies past Lucario and the Mystery of Mew).

It sucks that the game, the very thing that started all this, is kinda being pushed aside. I actually loved Legends Arceus, and it sucks to go from something that, imo, is great to. This

Edit: and I feel you on the Pokécenters. I’m from the US and they seemed to have gotten rid of the ones in the malls I go to, and the only ones that are still there only have the expensive card boxes, and no plushes 🥲

I've been disappointed in the quality of the games in the past few years and refuse to buy this new. I'll probably get it used to try it out, just like with SwSh. A lot of the new Pokemon this gen don't even feel like Pokemon to me, some look so generic they could be part of any series (like that mouse family thing). It's been a lot of fun watching how buggy this game is at least.

I have not been able to play it much since I have been one of the most unlucky, I have had to swallow bugs and bad performance all over the place.

The game for me is in an unacceptable state.
