I mean, I know why, it’s just so fucking creepy.

I believe there are a few reasons.

  1. Pedophilia. Let’s get the obvious one out of the way.

  2. The belief that women are inherently childlike. Since TIMs rely on stereotypes, a common favorite is the Cute Little Bird-Brain. I’ve said before that TIMs have misogyny towards women, and part of that is the belief that the lowest man is smarter, more successful and more capable than the highest women. And sometimes they state out loud how “easy” it is to be a woman- you don’t have to think about stuff so hard, you can just be girly and breezy and leave the hard work to the men. Because they think being a perpetually-infantile ditz is all part of being a woman, they behave in a childlike way because they think that’s how women are supposed to behave.

  3. Genuinely missing childhood and wishing to relive it. This is somewhat related to the above, but they view being a man as hard: responsibilities, deadlines, having to “act manly.” They want to go back to a phase where they didn’t have to do any of that, but also combine the “it’s so hard to be a grown-up man” gripe with being a woman. It’s the same reason why, despite “being women,” they don’t exactly jump at the chance to vacuum the floors. They view both womanhood and childhood as being inherently easy and free from duties.

  4. Thinking that their interests are inherently childish. This is only tangentially related to being trans. A lot of this stems from the belief among some people that watching animated films, playing video games, putting together Lego sets, etc. is only for kids. Since they enjoy those things, they think they must be children, too. Again, people would be a lot more content with themselves if our society would stop grouping things into “for women” and “for men” and “for adults” and “for kids.” It all stems from a dependence on the belief that there are rigid roles to follow, and failure to do some makes one someone else. In this case, the fact that they’re trans is merely part of their general insecurity with their identity.

When I learnt about Autopedophilia, (sexual arousal by the idea of being a child) the middle aged men pretending to be 'girls' and dressing/speaking in infantile ways suddenly made a lot more sense.

And then there are the 'bimbo' fetishes. That Andrea Long Chu quote about 'sissification' sums this up:

'to be a sissy is always to lose your mind. The technical term for this is bimbofication. Captions always instruct viewers to submit themselves to hypnosis, brainwashing, brain-melting, dumbing down, and other techniques for scooping out intelligence. "Why do I like the concept of being a bimbo?" asks one user.

They like the idea of being youthful, empty-headed sexual vessels because it gets them off. Notice the lack of TIMs who idolise female scientists, writers, inventors, artists etc. Or any older women. Nope, they idolise childlike anime characters and pornstars. No matter how old the TIM, he has no respect for older, wiser women, (Karen, ugh!) but identifies with cute ickle girlies uwu or teenage sleepover lesbians 🤮

Think all of the things you just named, but also that it's an extension of the whole 'wolf in sheep's clothing' thing they have going on. They're trying to adopt a 'cute, innocent, harmless' persona to get around our defenses. They want us to fuss over them and coddle them like they're poor, kicked puppies (and an unfortunate amount of women fall for it). A ton of invasive and/or predatory men have things they do to try to put us at ease and allow them to get closer than is safe for us, just some have the social skills to know that, say, pretending to have a broken arm or some other injury and needing help, adopting the right facial expressions, tone of voice, disarming attitude is a more effective and less red-flag raising approach than being a grown ass man trying to present himself as a little girl. And some don't have the social skills of Ted Bundy and are confused and enraged that dressing up like something women aren't afraid of doesn't make women see them and treat them as harmless.

That, and they're trying to be everything they're not, but 'woman' is the only thing they're socially permitted to claim out loud right now and be taken seriously in broader society (although a lot also 'identify' as having all kinds of disorders and such within their circles). Think give this insanity a few more years unchallenged, and a ton would be claiming to be races they aren't, ages they aren't, trans-height, trans-weight, anything becomes fair game with enough of this braindead postmodernistic nihilistic ideology applied.

I’ve never thought about this, but it’s a possibility. Perhaps when they’re standing in that “shy anime girl” knock-knee pose in knee-high socks and spinny skirts, they’re trying to give the impression that they’re such silly little things, they can’t possibly be dangerous. They think if they’re just funny little girls, then they pose no threat- notwithstanding the fact that they’re grown-ass men in girls panties.

.5. Older women are invisible to them. Or at least not the kind of women that they want to be. We are the evil terfs not the naive handmaidens. For misogynists, femininity and youth are intertwined.

I know a male who presents as female but uses they/them pronouns who dresses like an unfashionable older woman - think cat sweaters. It is extremely disconcerting.

I was just reading in a book about narcissism that basically narcs never develop through adolescence and so retain the brain function of children. This can result in addictions that help them avoid feelings of shame/self awareness of their own issues. Reliving childhood is intentional - it actively allows them to live without the shame and self-awareness that normal, functioning adults are expected to have.

This is probably a key way is separating those with genuine gender dysphoria from those who are abusing the condition to further their own narcissistic ends.

I think it' s because they get off on it.

I don' t think it' s necessarily pedophilia in the sense that they want to prey on children, but I do think that they fetishize childhood and find it arousing to behave like kids, not to mention guilty tripping and/or forcing others to play along.

You know those men who get off on wearing diapers and have "maids" change them and feed them? I think it' s pretty much the same mentality.

Is there an element of wanting to be let off the hook of normal adult responsibilities (bc let's be real, show me a man, never mind a TIM, excited about paying the bills and doing his fair share of housework)? I always think of that character in Bleak House, forget his name, "I'm a child of the universe, a perfect child" so can't possibly do anything sensible or responsible.

I know I'm exaggerating slightly, and also no one gets excited at paying bills, but there seems to be a sizable chunk of men who would rather do anything but behave like responsible adults.

Your comment just made me realize something; even in time periods where men were more socially expected to "grow up" and act like an adult instead of in this state of arrested development and so on, there was still never fully a time when the role models put forth of 'being a man' carried the expectation that they fully learned to take care of themselves and fully handle their own chores and affairs independently. 1950s "head of the household" types who never learned to clean their own homes, do their own laundry, cook their own meals, but also 19th century 'confirmed bachelors' who tended to either live in a house with a female housekeeper or in a boarding house with a woman handling those things (according to their level of wealth). Maybe you can look to grizzled trappers and literal hermits, but even trappers heading out into the wilds often got a wife (one way or another) to do a number of those things. Soldiers have their meals served to them. Monks and priests often still depend on nuns to clean their homes and have someone dedicated to cook for them. The role models of male adulthood almost always still come with an invisible woman taking care of them, doing the things they don't want to do, the daily drudgery, and men currently have less expectation of being able to access women's labor like that than ever before, and rather than putting in the effort to learn how to fully take care of themselves and learn how to do 'women's work,' many are just becoming NEETs and refusing to grow up at all. But all of their role models for male adulthood, "being a man," still depend on others taking care of them, particularly women, whether invisibly or not.

As a society do we need PSAs directed at adolescent boys featuring manly men doing their laundry, paying their bills, cooking daily meals, cleaning their homes, going to work?

Yes, in short.

Dunno, I'm a bit burned out right now with exactly this issue at home and feeling pretty salty about it. But in short, all that boring day-to-day stuff has always been "women's work" and is expected to just happen somehow (what, done by fairies?), even now by otherwise enlightened (ha ha) men who grew up with fathers who pulled some of their weight.

I think so. I think some fantasize about not having any responsibilities. Even though men are frequently coddled by the women in their lives, I get the impression that even useless deadbeat ones KNOW they are "supposed" to be breadwinners and protectors and the ones who make the RIGHT decisions, and they feel overwhelmed. Being a baby who can shit in their pants feels like freedom to them.

It’s the same reason why, despite “being women,” they don’t exactly jump at the chance to vacuum the floors.

Or seek gainful employment like an adult.

Which is just as well in a way, because no women should have to put up with them in the workplace.

Neither should those rare decent men, for that matter.

It's funny because it often ends up being what gives them away. I saw an employee at Walmart yesterday who was so clearly a TIM... bright pink running pants with white stripes down the side, some sort of over the top pink shirt, pink and white tennis shoes, long blonde and pink hair. Somehow it stood out as a very odd outfit. Like a woman of that age would not wear that outfit to work, but here we are. And then they get angry when people "clock" them.

He really might not have caught my eye wearing more toned-down clothing.

It's so weird the things a man can put on and be told "You go, girlfriend!" but if a woman put the same thing on, her actual girl friends would say "Are you really going to wear that?"

All good reasons. Wanted to add that they are inherently childish. Men cannot become women. That's magical thinking. Not everyone will like you. Not everyone will do what you say. Older, authoritative women only want to spoil your fun. And on, and on, and on...

I’m done trying to understand them. I just want them permanently gone.
