"The last remaining women’s-only seawater pool in Australia"

I'm not familiar with the place at all, just heard about this elsewhere and thought some of you might like to show them some support.

Skimming through the thousands of outraged comments, get your TRA bingo cards ready. Every cliche, mantra and lie is there. I swear gender activists are like robots.

edit: of course they're also leaving bad reviews on TripAdvisor and such. "foul, stone age rules" hahaha

God, I don’t understand any of them. TIMs can swim in ANY OTHER goddamn pool but no, they specifically really need to access this one.

Good on them. I hope they stand up for themselves and keep the policy. No amount of gaslighting or chanting ‘trans women are women!’ is ever going to make me and the countless other victims of male violence comfortable around males.

It's easier to understand TRAs when you realize their aim is to either dominate or utterly destroy women's spaces.

Right. It's about envy, control, and destruction. They think women 'need to be taught a lesson'. There's no logic to it because they hate us first and come up with reasons afterwards.

I never thought about it, but you're right about the "need to be taught a lesson" rhetoric.

exactly, whereas I went into the world pretty open minded but have developed REASONS to hate 99% of men lol and 99% of the time, they always prove me right

There was some dude working for the UK Labour Party, tasked with drawing up their manifesto for trans healthcare. He found that activists were less interested in healthcare and more focused on dismantling womens' rights. He lost his sympathy for them and posted a warning article on Medium.

Can anyone dig that up? It was called "What they really want" or something.

Sounds exactly like MRAs. I would be interested in reading that article.

Are you talking about Sue Donym? Their articles are long but helpful.

I meant the women who are replying, not the TIMs themselves.

Fair enough. I think that if a woman is brought up habitually ignoring, dismissing, or devaluating women's needs, especially when they conflict with men's desires, it's easy enough to keep doing more of the same when it becomes the civil rights movement du jour.

Especially as this spot is particularly important to indigenous women. Not only do they want to appropriate womanhood, but they want to appropriate 1000s of years of women’s history, too.

And there they go with their racism yet again with the complaints about the "foul, stone age rules".

Hey if you're the same babyradfem from the GC sub, welcome back! I've always enjoyed your posts.

Its classic male entitlement. It doesn't matter if a thousand other "women only" pools in Australia capitulate and allow TIMs. It doesn't matter if those handmaiden pools roll out the red carpet for them and treat them like VIPs. The HAVE to have access to the ONE pool that doesn't want their dicks or they will literally die of oppression.

Females aren't permitted to have anything for themselves in TRA fantasy land

I don't know how to do links but you should google 'Sydney ocean pools' and look at photos taken from above them to see just how may gorgeous ocean pools men have to choose from in that city. McIver's is so small and hard to access compared to all the other pools that no man with any respect for women would willingly go out of his way to make women uncomfortable by invading it.

They have trans only swim meet ups but we can’t have real women only? https://twitter.com/liamdel/status/1348516086963081216?s=21

A bit further north of these baths is the Bondi Icebergs ocean pool. The Icebergs Swimming Club was men only but a couple of decades ago women were granted use of the pool for their women only 'Mermaids' swimming club after the men had finished their competitions for the day. Within a few years the men had invaded the Mermaids and to this day they swim with the women while the Icebergs are still men only competitions.

LOL that's a classic 😂😂 everyone can have "X only" events as long as "X" includes some males. But female only spaces ?? WhAt BiGoTrY iS tHiS ?¿?

This is common. Apparently trans people have common issues that they need to be able to discuss without others present—but actual real women apparently have nothing in common at all.

Same, like, if we were to reverse the situation, I don't care if one of the 4 pools within 20 minutes of my house is a male only pool, I'll just go to one of the other 3. I don't know why they're so incapable of just finding another pool/gym/domestic violence shelter/whatever, there's more places that are open to literally anybody than not. If you live in an area where there's only one pool within 30 minutes of your house and that's restricted, fair enough, but that's not an issue with places restricting their establishments to being a women only, that's an issue with infrastructure being very much neglected in many towns and areas, particularly rural ones.

[–] Verdandi 2 points Edited

Because they're primarily men and have never actually experienced being excluded like this before. It never even occurs to them to just use the next one because they've literally never had to do that before. Every single man is a goddamn pampered prince compared to literally any woman ever, and it really shows in situations like this.

Stone Age rules? I thought all the cavemen were well respected stunning brave transwomen until white slave owners invented gender in 1492 I'm confused 🤔

It was all ladydiques as far as the eye could see in 1491.

I'm picturing Spanish explorers on the deck of their vast ships—black handlebar mustache brushing against the telescope as the leaping ladydiques dive in and out of the water, playfully gliding alongside the ship, balls glistening in the sun as the diques leap and dance over the waves.

"Dios mio!" they exclaim, their breath catching in their chest– "the diques today, they are beautiful. God has truly blessed us with this glorious sight."

POC lived perfect oppression free lives because they didn't know where babies came from and everyone just made free love with everyone, but especially with stunning and brave lady cocks!!!11

you should have considered the consequences BEFORE sharing such a violent sentiment.

There we go again. Not wanting a dick floating around next to you is violence! These comments are wild

Women denying men is violence. While actual calls for violence ala "punch terfs" is just what women deserve.

We brought it upon ourselves, I thought you would know that, Yikes. Come on, get with the times !!

/s

How much do you bet none of them even live in Australia.

There was a gay male only club night that in Switzerland that got cancelled thanks to the efforts of TRAs from America. I think they deliberately look for small businesses or events that are 'trans exclusive' and then just hound them.

The UK government threw out the results of the GRA consultation because American TRAs spammed it.

They’re always pompously apologizing for how the US is the worst country to have ever existed but..I finally relate to them slightly...in that I’m feeling sorry for other countries who don’t even have nearly such a social or cultural tension about this on the ground that have my fellow citizen crusaders (who hate the US meddling again yes?) sticking their nose in anywhere and everywhere they find “terfy”.

:(

They did the same to a lesbian bar in Japan, for the benefit of a hulking weeaboo of course.

They did the same to a lesbian bar in Japan, for the benefit of a hulking weeaboo of course.

That story infuriated me! The lesbian Japanese owner dedicated ONE night a week to her gay bar being a safe space for women. And some White American dude with delusions of being a "kawaii Japanese yuri girl" had to stomp in and savage her online until she relented. The racism of TRAs was on full display there

For some reason this bothers me way more than the other examples. I think it's because of just how awful and backwards Japanese society is towards women, not to mention lesbians.

I mean, they literally have a festival dedicated solely to dicks. Images and sculptures of dicks everywhere— but God forbid a woman prints a 3D version of her own vagina for personal use as a kayak.

I didn't hear about that. Just another example of woke homophobia.

Oh definitely....a while back this issue came up in the main Aus sub (someone asking if their partner would be welcome). All responses were various sorts of “No, why not go anywhere else?” Could try and find it:

Edit: Did find it! 3 months ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/sydney/comments/j14zkl/trans_women_at_the_mciver_baths

I have to wonder if that was what kicked off this harassment campaign.

Most of the commenters have it right. I wonder if any local women in Sydney could raise the issue more publicly (if it is safe for them to do so) because most people seem to think sensibly.

I really loved this comment:

For some of the women who go to this pool, it is the only place they feel they are able to swim (in particular, Muslim women). If your partner has a male appearance, these women probably won’t make her feel unwelcome, they will probably just stop swimming there. And that would be unfair to them.

Rather than thinking about the reaction to yourself and your partner, I think you should be thinking about your effect on the women for whom this is their only opportunity to swim.

They never think about their effect on others do they?

I have to wonder if that was what kicked off this harassment campaign.

Probably! It kind of sounds like a trial balloon / signal.

I mean, I agree we should all be more thoughtful and I agree this woman is a bit dense, but it honestly rubs me the wrong way telling women to put others before themselves even more than we already do.

Fucking hell, have to take my laughs where I can get them.

(1) Chuckling at how many pro-male comments have the laughing emoji as one of the most frequent reacts.

(2) There was a comment from a woman saying something like "I was planning to have my ashes scattered amongst these rocks, but no longer since you are not welcome to ALL women" Holy shit the dramatics 🤣

Screw you McIver's! I was planning to have my dearest dog euthanized there and to have my membership passed along to my great great granddaughter in my will, but no longer!!

Fuck you, I was drinking coke zero when I read that and choked on it. Now I can't stop hiccupping.

I do love the laughing emoji. It's effective at winding up morons going on a moral crusade.

"I cannot in good conscience scatter my ashes in a dickless swimming hole!!" 🤣

I know technically ashes are sterile, and it stands to reason that swimming in the ocean means you're swimming in someone's ashes essentially (I spread my own mother's ashes in the ocean), but something about doing it at a dedicated swimming site kind of weirds me out. It would be like if I spread my mom's ashes at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk rather than an out-of-the-way alcove in Carmel.

Why do these people want to swim with dellusional bedicked males so much?

The majority of TIMs aren't even be-dicked. They're full on dicked and claim its a female penis.

Very surprised to see a comment directed at a woman saying "You call yourself a radical feminist and yet you are anti-trans?" as if these beliefs are inconsistent. Do these people not know what their favorite insult for us (TERF) even stands for?

It really shows how little they know about the debate to be surprised someone self-identifying as radfem would be against trans ideology.

I wasn’t anti-trans until THEY told me that it was anti-trans to be pro-woman.

I wasn’t anti-trans until THEY told me that it was anti-trans to be pro-woman.

Most radfems are super liberal and were happy to campaign for trans rights to basic things like job security and Healthcare. They only became critical when TRAs decided it was their civil right to colonize EVERY female space and overturn legislation like Title IX

the libfems think THEY are the radical feminists. A libfem I know has like a radical feminist pin that she wears lmao. Insufferable git.

foul, stone age rules

Watch this be someone that justifies prostitution a la 'sex work is work' due to it 'being the world's oldest profession'

Congrats to McIver's, hope they continue to stand their ground.

which it isn't... food procurement is the world's oldest profession

I heard it was midwifery, it's basically the only "job" women couldn't do themselves.

McIver's was my favourite spot for swimming when I lived in Sydney in the 1960's through to the 1980's. There would be a handful of nuns, women from strict religious backgrounds, and everyday women who just wanted to be left the hell alone to bathe in the ocean pool without any man watching them. Walking down the steps was like walking into another world, and the women who passed you going up would smile at you as if they were secretly handing you the key to an idyllic haven.

McIver's is one of very few places I will ever venture to in a swimsuit, the others being one or two places in Iceland that have that same atmosphere of seclusion, belonging, and freedom.

Prediction: many women will virtue-signal about the policy, but nobody will actually boycott. Why? Because women's spaces are awesome.

Trans women are women and anyone who claims otherwise should swim back to TERF Island.

Sounds like a lovely place, I would love to vacation at TERF Island <3

Me too! But you know they'd be livid and try to colonize it.

They would! Women do make their own spaces and retreat to them, and TRAs follow, colonize, and demand the women get out. Lather, rinse, repeat.
