I have always found it frustrating how TIMs (MtFs) will claim that they do not experience male privilege because when they are presumed to be male it is misgendering (which is a form of violence). However, most amazingly, I came across this post sharing this contradictory opinion from a TIM wherein he goes on about how he can't have male privilege because of misgendering etc etc but then actually admits that he sometimes lets himself pass as male (which is sooo horrible) for safety reasons. I really just feel like if we are at the point where these people are actually admitting that they have male privilege, while still denying it at the same time, we have certainly reached a level of La-La-Land ideology that is hopefully about to crack? Do you think people like this are hurting their cause, or do you think it makes no difference because people will just keep believing what they want to believe? I honestly just don't know. If you would like to see the post, here it is. This isn't the original post (it is someone who is critical of it), so clicking on it won't give any traffic to the dumbass who originally made the post.

Anyway, I am just looking for other opinions on where we are at in this whole debate, because when I see things like this I think we must be near the breaking point. But maybe not?

This is my thought on it.

I get that you're scared (of men, not "TERFs," don't lie) when you wear a dress.

The difference for me is, putting on pants doesn't make me any safer.

For a while in my young adult life I tried to “escape” my femininity by dressing like a man. It didnt make a hoot of difference and kind of only made me feel worse because it reminded me that I was always inescapably female. I never realized that getting older would be the best thing that happened to me. I don’t get harassed nearly as much now that I am almost 40. But it doesn’t take away the years of feeling unsafe, being followed, groped, etc. And yeah, that someone can just opt out of that is ridiculous.

In other words, he knows when it is best to drop the charade, but he still wants to lie about it.

"I don't have male privilege, but I sometimes use the male privilege that I have in order to protect myself."

Um.

His performance of what he thinks women speak and act like is particularly offensive

If you can remove your oppression with a face wipe and a change of clothes then it's not oppression.

Mind you looking at the video he doesn't even need both of those things.

This is such a good question. I don’t know either, I think it will take time before we really know the answer.

I do think this guy might lead at least a few women to peaking though, it looks like a joke, seeing him deny male privilege while he has a light beard and chest hair on show. I think he must be loving how many people fall for his nonsense, and seeing how far he can push it.

Hmm... someone who has the ability to opt out of a certain oppression placed on their body... you could say it's his... his... I believe it started with a P.

When these guys say this, they mean that being perceived as a TRANSwoman is what’s dangerous. They don’t admit the danger cis women live with.

Fair enough, that is probably what he means. Ugh. That just made it even worse! Haha

I remember something that helped peak me, it was a tim on reddit saying that he lived as a woman most of the time, but presented as male at work bc "for some reason" his job is just easier when he's male-presenting

I think that might've been what got me banned from one of the trans subreddits bc I was like, "for some reason" are you kidding me?

They're selfish, irrational clowns

I thought you were going to say that got him banned from the subreddit, and I thought “good for them, some integrity!”, but no. Glad you spoke out though.

Oh my lord! That is insufferable. How can these people keep a straight face when saying this stuff? And how can so many others just lap it up?! I guess people literally don’t listen to it fully. They are just told that it is bigoted to disagree in any way with “this trans person is actually the opposite sex, at least when they want to be,” so they allow this crap to continue. So beyond ridiculous!

Definitely agree that it’s bullshit for any male to deny having male privilege, when he can (even in theory) easily take off his woman costume and enjoy privileges that would be inaccessible to any actual woman. But this video… This is satire, right?

Sadly this person has a whole account of nutso videos like this, so I really don’t think so..
