Sorry if this isn't the right circle to post, I just felt like ranting.

I wouldn't say I'm very good at studying languages, but I have been known to dabble in different languages, so I'll sometimes watch some Youtubers who make videos on studying languages.

Anyway, so some women who were in the online language learning community started an online conference called Women in Language, where all the speakers would be women. But, of course, now they have to "amplify" nonbinary people too even though the event is still called Women in Language. I think I'd be way less annoyed if they just let transwomen be speakers too because at least that fits the whole "transwomen are women" mantra. Or even if they just changed the name to Nonmen in Language. It's like they are trying to make the word women code for not men. We are our own separate thing. We aren't just not men.

Baah!

One thing that doesn't make sense to me, is why nonbinary people would want to be part of something that is made for women. If you are neither a man nor a woman why would you want to participate? I would probably think "well I'm not a woman so that doesn't concern me" But i guess i already have the answer to my own question: NARCISSISM

They just want to be IN

Technically it's just the speakers who are women (or now not men) but anyone can watch the talks.

It's like the transmen who don't feel comfortable in men-only areas, but then get so upset if you say transmen are different from men. So I have to let transwomen in women-only spaces because they're women. Then I have to let transmen in because they don't feel comfortable in men-only spaces but don't you dare point out that they're females. And of course, nonbinary people have to be let into women-only spaces because why not everyone else is coming in. Pretty soon only straight cis-white men are going to have their own spaces.

yeah, society is going to be divided in "men" and others

And that's the way is always has been!!! It's just more of the same old, same old.

Call it AFABs in language and then the nonbinaries would make sense.

For real. Unless of course, they are going to let a male who is trans be one of the speakers.
