Catherine Liu, a film and media studies professor at UC Irvine and self-identified socialist feminist, wrote to her relatively small following on Twitter yesterday:

"I am not anti-woke for any-wokeness’ sake. I feel as if the innovations of work [sic] language are meant to humiliate non-college educated and non PMC people. Heard this anecdote about service union workers leaving first DSA meeting they attended bc of the pronoun intros."

"PMC" = "professional managerial class." "DSA" = Democrat Socialists of America. For the crime of pointing out that dumbass woke language tends to come from college grads and not, you know, the Salt of the Earth, Catherine Liu has been mocked all over Twitter and has currently gone private.

Twenty bucks says that Liu could have used any other example of woke language -- any at all! -- and no one would have cared. But attack ritualistic pronoun nonsense? On TWITTER? Guess she must be our new Queen TERF, sisters.

She's right you know. Working class people do not care for this kind of wankery at all.

At one of my local union-heavy Democrat meetings, the first person to introduce herself was an administrator at the local Planned Parenthood and gave her pronouns. Not a single person did after her and it made my heart very pleased. (Even though it was mostly dudes from the pipefitters who didn't know what she was doing anyway, but still.)

[–] BeachLover 28 points (+28|-0)

My son is in a union of highly skilled mostly men. Sadly, they are mostly Trumpers, but even the liberal ones think this is all NUTS. That's what they say: this is nuts!!

[–] goatsauce 2 points (+2|-0)

Yeah, most of the union people I know are for Trump, though not really Republicans. They're a weird mix. They support local Dems and national Republicans. But the Democrats aren't doing much to help shore up their support with the working class, so I understand that the people who are traditionally compelled to vote for them are looking elsewhere.

[–] zuubat 9 points (+9|-0) Edited

The world cannot afford to have pipefitters sucked into this woo woo. Can you imagine what might happen when they're unable (or forbidden) to assume the gender of a given fitting just by looking? I am guessing those things don't come with pronoun labels.

bahhahahaha I love it

Excerpt from the Pipefitter's Manual, 27th edition, 2046:

Arrange all fittings in a circle and ask them whether they identify as male, female, symmetrical, or skeins of flamingo pink embroidery thread.

Any fittings which decline to answer should be placed in the terf dumpster immediately. Wear gloves.

Logged in specially to ❤️❤️❤️ this! Cracked me up! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

JN Pristker, a TIM whose family controls $29 billion, is leading this astroturf "trans" lobby. He funds the ACLU, and his family funds Planned Parenthood.

Oh, yes. And he's a Republican. I'm convinced this is all this Republican's plan to destroy the Left.

Read Jennifer Bilek. She followed the money to its source: https://www.the11thhourblog.com/

[–] NewMa 2 points (+2|-0)

Oh hey @Elegantissima. I thought we ran you off since you hadn't posted in a while. Hope you're doing well.

Also Jennifer Bilek is probably one of the most important people in the fight against this madness.

[–] [Deleted] 59 points (+60|-1)

Nor do most minorities. This is really a performative knowledge-economy-white-people wankfest.

[–] Avadavat 39 points (+39|-0)

Good for them! Guess having to contend with material reality on a day by day basis prevents working class people from falling into gender woo woo lunacy,

[–] IronicWolf 22 points (+22|-0)

It is hilarious watching the Novara crowd on Twitter and elsewhere talk about what the working class want, especially the working class in the North of England. A middle aged part time dinner lady from Burnley is apparently thinking non stop about transwomen being deadnamed and has a shrine to Jeremy Corbyn and prays nightly for him to return as Labour leader and shepherd his flock to the Promised Land.

[–] Tea_Wench 12 points (+12|-0)

The only working class person I know that loved JC is my milk lady (who is lovely) but I think she would have very little time for the average TRA. The Novara crew are beyond ridiculous.

[–] SawItComing 1 points (+1|-0)

Agreed, the Novara crew are pathetic. Their complete lack of insight and introspection as to why their side was defeated so badly in December 2019, and whether, maybe just maybe, they might have had something to do with it....the cope is off the scale. Although a part of me is almost impressed by their blind determination to ignore their own circular reasoning and lack of insight :-)

Ridiculous. Of course, attack an Asian woman and nobody bats an eye.

[–] kahkahtesstess 63 points (+64|-1)

Don't you know that Asians are White-adjacent and use white supremacy to achieve the success they have in society? /s

[–] KissMyOvaries 29 points (+29|-0)

Time magazines issue with Page on the cover was actually a double issue. Half of the covers were of Page, the other half about Anti-Asian violence. I understand this is standard in the magazine industry, but it still pissed me off that her stupid transition had to split magazine covers with the Anti-Asian violence article.

I read the article and it was largely about her stupid hair. You’d think that someone who was truly trans (not that I believe in anyone being truly trans) would focus on something deeper than a stupid haircut. It was also annoying that so many people now want her in their movies. I never thought she was a great actress, TBH, so obviously it’s a wake Hollywood thing. (Based on the huge roles she’s had in the past, Hollywood was never clamoring for her, either.) It’s just so fake.

[–] Lilith 5 points (+5|-0)

Ellen Page has been in a lot of shows and had major roles before, so I disagree that she wasn't in demand as an actress. I wasn't expecting her to be as popular as Elliot, especially given the complete absence of representation for trans men or female enbies even in woke shows and movies. If it's woke it almost always has a trans woman or two with minor roles, and no trans men or enbies.

I'm not convinced this will help her career, but it may not hurt it as much as I was expecting, either.

[–] LadySparklz 58 points (+58|-0)

She's right. That's how out of touch wokeness truly is to the under-privledged. You think refugees ask eachother for pronouns when they migrate to a new country for safety? It's stupid-ass out of touch moral elitism for the woke.

[–] [Deleted] 29 points (+29|-0)

Plus, many (most) languages don't even have gendered pronouns!

[–] lemonflutter 37 points (+37|-0)

It's so gross how the woke brigade has been trying to force "Latinx" onto people.

1) Spanish already has a gender neutral word: "Latine"

2) It wouldn't even matter if Spanish had a gender neutral word. It's a different language, and to force liberal Western woke ideology onto other languages and cultures (who all have different beliefs and views on gender anyway) is horrifically colonialist and racist.

3) Most native Spanish speakers CAN'T EVEN NATURALLY PRONOUNCE THE WORD "Latinx" BECAUSE OF THE LETTER X. So that shows just how colonialist and offensive and stupid this word is. White liberalsand leftists are smugly patting themselves on the back for coming up with an unneeded gender-neutral word...for a language they clearly didn't even bother to understand...that the native speakers can't even naturally say. Unbelievable.

So much of this trans cult is not only extreme patriarchy and male hatred of women, but it's also clearly rooted deeply in white supremacy and colonialism.

[–] Tabitha_Tuesday 19 points (+19|-0) Edited

Thankfully I've seen the Hispanic and Spanish speaking community fighting back against this. Steam had a "LatinX" festival and the forums were filled with people bitching about it, especially the Spanish forums.

[–] pennygadget 1 points (+1|-0)

Most native Spanish speakers CAN'T EVEN NATURALLY PRONOUNCE THE WORD "Latinx" BECAUSE OF THE LETTER X. So that shows just how colonialist and offensive and stupid this word is.

Thats what floored me the most. These arrogant, woke White people couldn't be bothered to take a Spanish 101 course (or consult some native Spanish speakers) to make sure their new "inclusive" word made sense in Spanish. They also didn't know that many english speaking people already used "Latin" instead of "Latino" as an anglicized, gender neutral alternative.

IMO, I think they shied away from using "Latine" because the "e" is feminine in French (and HEAVEN FORBID some French speaking gender-special get triggered by a girly vowell!!!)

[–] LadySparklz 27 points (+27|-0)

Yes, that too!!! I want the woke to actually "wake up" and realize what they are asking the population outside of their woke echo chamber. If the woke were doing actually activism and volunteering with their community at the level of say, victim services volunteer or rape shelter crisis line volunteering...they'd wake up. But unfortunately, Twitter re-tweets are considered enough activism to qualify these jabronis as a voice for their movement.

[+] [Deleted] 51 points (+51|-0)
[–] questioningtw 46 points (+47|-1)

I am a working class person here to vouch for this. Most working class people think this trans thing is insanity, and extremely elitist to attack people for being so stupid to think that female=woman, and male=man.

[–] orchidea 41 points (+42|-1)

This reminds me a lot of a Facebook post I saw a while back in which some local community organizer somewhere in the UK recounted how trans activist university students (self-proclaimed leftists - perhaps from Goldsmiths in London?) had basically insinuated themselves into grassroots initiatives for the poor and vulnerable and were trying to teach people about pronouns and gender ideology, etc. etc. And how it really had nothing to do with what the target population (poor, working class people) wanted or needed and it was disrupting work to actually help those people.

[–] IrishTheFrenchie 23 points (+23|-0)

It's so creepy and disheartening to hear how invasive and coordinated these people are.

[–] BeachLover 23 points (+23|-0)

When people don't have enough food to last the month, they don't give a damn what pronoun you use. That's why this TRA movement is mostly white, upper class twits.

[–] MsTig0 17 points (+17|-0)

I used to be active in an organisation that was all about affordable housing for young people. Practical stuff - finding old houses that could be renovated as cheap apartments, negotiating with the city housing planners, that kind of work. Now the org is suddenly hosting meetings on gender diversity and trans & non binary issues. Every board member has English pronouns front and center on their website even though the site is in our own language (which does not have gendered pronouns!)

I've no idea how that happened.

[–] bellatrixbells 15 points (+15|-0)

And no shit it did ! 😡 This ideology is a narcissistic cancer that steals attention and funding away from people in need.

Just like it messes with much needed resources for women in obstetrics, stillbirth, cancer and shelters, etc.

I hate this hateful ideology.

[–] RawSienna 12 points (+12|-0)

It’s a cancer on society. It’s everything it claims to be against, only turbocharged for maximum damage.

You guys remember Steve Bannon’s famous statement that he wanted to “deconstruct the administrative state”? Well wokeism is doing that and more. It’s destroying civil society and corrupting government and private institutions, education, medicine and more.

[–] vulvapeople 3 points (+3|-0)

It's also destroying interpersonal relationships, making even mundane interactions a minefield. No one should have to fear triggering a tantrum from a grown adult because he/she demands special pronouns or doesn't pass (and may not even be trying to).

[–] ChristinaYang 2 points (+2|-0)

Indeed! Lucy McDonagh’s Deptford People’s Project was ruined by Goldsmith’s Students. Mentioned in this piece by Meghan Murphy, towards the end:

It's true lol I have a co worker who randomly brought up how men can never really be women when we were on break without my terfy self saying anything about transgenderism. We're good friends now HA. Twitter Wokies who think they are socialist and communists are so far removed from regular society. Working class people don't buy their shit.

[–] remquarqk 35 points (+35|-0)

I was educated in poly sci at a very working-class public college, and the professor also had this attitude in class. It would have been very awkward if he would have tried to bring up pronouns. The class was very diverse, full of working-class and nontraditional students. Woke people don't realize what a joke it is to normal people who will never be part of the PMC.

[–] IrishTheFrenchie 35 points (+35|-0)

JFC I hate this shit. The "everyone who is woke is so intelligent and college educated and everyone who resists is a white trash POS from bumfuck Arkansas."

It's THIS EXACT holier than thou shit that has completely fractured the democrat party to the point, IMO, of no return. This tiny percentage are touting themselves as the party of the rich, woke, elitist snobs, while totally comfortable alienating the other 99% of the country by calling us names. I am college educated. I have a doctorate on top of that. I am not rich. I do not live in an urban area. I am not a dumbass hick. I am NOT WOKE. And on top of all that, I am completely insulted yet again, by these academics who think they can redefine the entire fabric of society and the language we use, and when I refuse to go along with it, call me a dunce.

Fuck them.

[–] BeachLover 12 points (+12|-0) Edited

I'm very similar to you except I don't have a doctorate but am currently finishing my second Masters degree. I'm pretty middle class. I don't live in an urban area. I'm "woke" on some things, like income equality, but not on gender ideology and sex "work." And neither are my three very liberal kids. My daughter is the most "woke" but the others are working on her. And since one of my graduate degrees is in language, the Orwellian use of the language by the TRAs makes me absolutely nuts.

[–] hermiona52 10 points (+10|-0)

I will forever repeat this - identity politics is a deliberate distraction by capitalists in power. It might sound like a conspiracy theory, but it really does make a sense. By this point it's clear that capitalism is a straightforward road to the end of our civilization, since in it's roots it's about never-ending economical growth. On a finite planet with finite resources and finite bio-regeneration capabilities it's scientifically impossible system to uphold.

So the only solution is to convert economics into a post-growth system, but by definition it will no longer be a capitalism. However this would be the biggest change in human history, possibly comparable only to changing lifestyle from hunter-gathering communities to farming ones.

It's absolutely no wonder that forcing societies to fight in endless culture wars, recently identity politics, is a nice distraction from the fact that out leftist leaders are unable to provide solution to the main issue described above. When we fight meaningless wars, that 1% in power can safely conduct business as usual.

People usually are afraid of the world from the book "1984", but in reality we are already living in the world from "Brave New World". It's absolutely depressing and terrifying.

[–] BeachLover 0 points (+0|-0)

Did you ever read Neil Postman's essay from a book of the same title, "Amusing Ourselves To Death"? He make the same point you made. We are in a "Brave New World" much more than 1984. I just use the Orwellian reference because most people understand what you mean.

[–] GelatinousRube 30 points (+30|-0)

I have a work story. Part of my crew was hanging around talking while waiting for a delivery. The new guy said he was on a Microsoft project and showed us part the logo on the jacket he was given. (We often get swag for big projects.)

The new building is called "Troon." I laughed and said, "oh no that's considered a slur now." I told him what it meant and said I didn't care and thought it was funny that M$ had used it (maybe named after the city).

This other young guy (25?) who I've never talked to about genderpol pops up with, "I'm not going to respect something that they just made up five minutes ago as a slur!" I died.

In my worklife, sex is what matters. Men know I don't have their sheer strength. It's fine. No one is introducing themselves by pronouns at union meetings, thank God. There's very girly women, and butch lesbians, and women in the middle. I used to be in a woke bubble, and I'm glad I'm in a place now where I don't have to pretend things.

Meghan Murphy did an interview with Vincent Emanuele a few months ago where he talks about unionists being alienated and walking out of a meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzQIAsd011A&t=2s

Interesting guy!

[–] hmimperialtortie 13 points (+13|-0)

I'm not going to respect something that they just made up five minutes ago as a slur!"

He’s right, and this is why I think it’s beyond stupid that that word is verboten here and on r/GC.

[–] [Deleted] 26 points (+26|-0)

Damn I wish there was a link. The cope in her replies must have been off the charts

[–] femuhnist [OP] 19 points (+19|-0)

Yeah, I would've linked but she's made her Twitter private for now.

[–] [Deleted] 30 points (+30|-0) Edited

Yea figures and smart on her part. I just love the idea of white PMC wokesters like "Nooooooo poor people need to respooct Muh proonoooooons!!!!!"

Unfortunately they use that as an excuse to hoard wealth. Push virtuous luxury beliefs on the 99%, for whom such societal changes do more damage then good, then call them biggoted when they don't comply, and conclude that they deserve to be poor

[–] femuhnist [OP] 40 points (+40|-0) Edited

Totes.

Most of them are claiming that they are working class, which is the main go-to move of the privileged. This is generally done by people who fail to recognize that current income is not the sole determinant of class. Like yes, cool, you make minimum wage at your coffee shop job right now, or you're a freelance journalist making $15K a year, but you also have a doctoral degree and grew up in the upper-middle-class suburbs. Or yes, fine, you grew up poor, but are you currently poor now, and if you are, do you have a college education, the kind your older relatives didn't have? You know but nuance is hard for these people. Clearly she's saying that poor people are too ignorant to understand pronoun rituals! Actually, she's not saying that, she's just saying they think it's dumb, because it is.

[–] questioningtw 20 points (+20|-0)

This is what erages me, so what are parents supposed to go broke because if their child says they are the other gender they have to get expensive medical treatments or the state will take them away? FUCK THAT! These people should feel shame for acting like children should be able override their parents and be allowed to transitioning. These procedures aren't cheap, and contrary to what they say staying the sex that you are is not life threatening.

[–] IrishTheFrenchie 14 points (+14|-0)

Unfortunately they use that as an excuse to hoard wealth. Push virtuous luxury beliefs on the 99%, for whom such societal changes do more damage then good, then call them biggoted when they don't comply, and conclude that they deserve to be poor

The policies in our most liberal cities are an exercise in feudalism. The wealth gap is beyond ridiculous. But let's worry about pronouns, as I speak to the plebes from my Ivory Tower upon high.
