Empathy for women has never been Caitlyn Jenner's strong suit. He frequently abandoned wives and children, and made Kim Kardashian keep his dirty secret for ten years. He made creepy jokes about going to the women's room, and dressed in his own daughters' cloths.

The one time he thinks of someone other than himself, George Takei decides to go on a big old cancel campaign on Twitter. He called Jenner "a menace" because Jenner was honest that males should not be in female sports.

If anyone is an authority on this issue, it's Caitlyn. At his peak, the world's best men literally could not surpass him. He was a wonder of physical fitness.

George Takei is 90 years old, so I don't know why he feels to be so woke on this issue. It's a young idiot's folly. Maybe in his old age he finds solace in being the internet's "wholesome, nice guy" but he looks sour and vicious now.

And that IS how Takei has stayed in the public eye over the years. By being an adorable, kindly old man. There's nothing wrong with that, except he's now shown how false that is.

He didn't go after Jenner just for being a Republican. He didn't even go after Jenner for killing a woman with his car. What really brought on Takei's fury was Jenner saying that men don't belong in women's sports.

Why can't Takei show some of that wholesome kindness to women? Maybe don't assume we're villainous? Women's sports will never overtake men's sports in terms of fame and money. So why can't we have them? They're no threat to you.

I know Takei called Caitlyn Jenner a menace, but I don't believe for a minute that's what he meant. I think he views US as the menace. He's just angry with Jenner siding with us.

Women are not a menace, George.

I think the bigger problem is George Takei’s intern whose in charge of his social media. He’s paying people to give him the image of cool, hip grandpa. He’s 90. I sincerely doubt he’s engaged in social media battles and, being a prominent gay man, asked that the account support LGBT issues. He probably has no fucking clue what T means in this day and age.

[–] skink 36 points (+36|-0)

That makes sense, especially when I think about the time his account posted a supposedly funny meme of a woman standing up from her wheelchair to get a bottle off a shelf. He was pushing 80 at the time, which seems rather old never to have met a wheelchair user who isn't obligated to stay in the chair constantly.

Whoever posted that may have had a good sense of memes but wasn't hip to what old people are likely to know.

I think you're right. Especially since LOTS of older people can walk short distances but use wheelchairs when going out to places like a grocery store. Those tweets don't sound like something a person who is over 80 years old would say/think

It's not just older people, either. Lots of people of all ages use wheelchairs in certain situations coz of various medical conditions that make it difficult to walk long distances or stand for a long time. Being a wheelchair user, and having legitimate need of a wheelchair, is not confined to people who can't walk or stand at all. Yes, people over 80 usually know that - but then so do many, perhaps most, people of much younger ages too.

I reserve the right to blame Takei for the actions of his intern. The buck stops with him.

I definitely don’t think he’s blameless. He’s obviously got a PR team to help deflect from allegations as well as other things in his past he’s said or done that he doesn’t want dredged up. He’s protecting his legacy. I just doubt that anything posted is in his words or necessarily something he personally believes in.

Takei's woke posturing is the textbook example of the "how do you do, fellow kids?" meme. Its so goddam sad when someone old enough to know better panders to dumb children like this.

Also, I know numerous lesbians who are older than fifty. And, according to them, gay men they knew back in the day were often more misogynistic than straight guys (because gay men didn't have to pretend to respect us in order to get laid). So an old gay guy hating women isn't all that shocking

I'm in my thirties and I'm painfully aware of this. I think most lesbians are.

I even had a conversation about this with a gay male friend. He's the kind of short, shy guy who only hung out with girls in high school and downright venerated them. He said he was shocked and appalled when he started hanging around gay bars and gay culture because of how misogynistic most of the men were.

[–] kickinitwithmydawg 52 points (+52|-0)

He also thinks he represents all of LGBT since he's the famous gay non-white grandpa of Twitter. He can do no wrong with the wokarati. Unfollow the old man. I had to when I realized my brow was furling too many times at his posts.

I happened to watch the documentary he did about himself. He does not come off well. He seems to be really catty and into insulting people, which I realize is a gay sterotype but he seems to take it to extremes. I was a fan of his until I watched the documentary he shot and edited himself. He seems really..not very self aware.

I had to stop following him on Twitter when he became a TRA. It makes me sad because I admire him. I don’t know why he can’t see that the Trans ideology is homophobic.

[–] visits_radio 24 points (+26|-2)

I don't understand his nice reputation. Didn't he sexually assaulted someone?

[–] pennygadget 26 points (+27|-1)

Its okay for him to be predatory because he's sassy and gay! /s

[–] momofreyrella 11 points (+11|-0)

Thank you for bringing this up! For a second I wasn't sure if I imagined it or not.

[–] babayaga 3 points (+3|-0)

Yeah, he was on the Howard Stern show with a man who has "the world's largest penis" and he started groping the guy's dick. I think there was something else about him admitting to groping other men, or other accusations against him.

[–] visits_radio 1 points (+1|-0)

Yeah. I totally forgot about that segment of the Howard Stern show. That guy didn't look comfortable and Takei did not care.

That cements it for me. It doesn't matter that Takei is a gay icon. He is scum.

I never thought I’d be siding with ContraPoints or Caitlyn Jenner about gender issues, but here we are. Let the infighting begin.

[–] remquarqk 10 points (+10|-0)

what has contrapoints said recently? Must have missed this

[–] [Deleted] 15 points (+15|-0) Edited

It wasn’t even that controversial. He just posted some tweets that basically implied the whole “pronoun check” culture is just performative wokeness and everyone came after him for “silencing the non-binary community” or something. He also collaborated with a TIF who’s a big proponent of transmedicalism, which states that only people suffering from gender dysphoria or undergoing surgery are truly transgender. At least that concept is a step in the right direction, or at least a step away from “trans as a trend” which is a lot more prevalent than the community wants to admit. So Contra didn’t even actually say that last part, just associated with someone who did, and got “cancelled.”

ETA: it’s really short sighted of them, considering ContraPoints is one of the most palatable and accessible public member of the trans identified community.

This twitter row over pronouns was very confusing to me when it happened. Why would this be such a controversial issue among the trans community. Nowadays I get it. Contrapoints really only complained about "pronoun checks" because as an AGP he gets "gender euphoria" when people refer to him as "she". If he has to request it, it's not the same thing. In contrast, for trans/nonbinary-identified women a "pronoun checks" is basically a request to be treated like men, which in a misogynistic society means fully human.

[–] shveya 22 points (+22|-0)

I was disappointed to learn that Takei is a raging misogynist. Getting men to have a bit of empathy for women is like pulling teeth.

[–] questioningtw 15 points (+15|-0)

I like George Takei, I really, really do; but he is doing the very human thing of taking something he doesn't know much about and saying is opinion. He knows nothing about sports, and is an actor.

[–] Turtlefuzz Flairy Godmother 0 points (+0|-0)

I think it's fine for anyone to have an opinion about anything; as long as they do some research before and are considerate when expressing their opinion.

I was never an athlete. After peaking and reading about how TIMs are stealing women's sports, I read some more. And more and more and more until I found that there is no universe in which a male can erase his biological advantage.

I still speak up about it, even though I don't have any direct experience with this problem.

[–] EvaDemeter 10 points (+10|-0)

Too many equate any treatment of trans identified anyone as equivalent to any other discrimination, and Takei's had plenty of that in his life, but I cannot understand this approach. Maybe that's not it at all, maybe he enjoys the likes from his righteous indignation stands and likely no one around him shares any other views, but yes. Saw him on Facebook as well doubling down on his double down, and dammit Sulu, you should've taken a stand when Jenner was causing traffic fatalities.

[–] Hollyhock 10 points (+10|-0)

I unsubscribed from Takei the day he featured a young woman who just had both breasts removed to 'be free'. She was in her hospital bed looking at her mutilated chest and Takei's take on this was, "Even her grandma was so supportive."

I was appalled - it was female mutilation and Takei GLORIFIED IT.
