Bechdel says she’s heartened by the strides that the LGBTQ+ community has made since she first started writing and drawing, but she’s also aware that gains can always be lost and that progress only goes so far. (She singles out the recent legislative attacks on the trans community as “particularly troubling.”)

The "legislative attacks" refer to the Arkansas bill.

I have a volume of 'Dykes to watch out for' with strips from around 2000, in which her stand-in character voices gender-critical doubts about lesbians becoming "trans men", but during the story arch she becomes schooled by another lesbian and eventually changes her mind. So I guess she's now fully on board with this.

Oh fuck, another sell-out.

Bechdel saw what happened to JK Rowling and decided she best not get uppity and upset the men in lipstick
