Both articles are from the Irish Examiner, both by journalist David Raleigh. The first one is from May 2022.

It describes Barbie Kardashian’s conviction but nowhere does it mention that BK was trans, or even changed his name. The entire article is about a “woman” who hatched a plan to rape, torture and kill “her” mother.

May 2022 Irish Examiner article

Yet not a full year later the article, which is covering the challenge the court is facing on what to do with BK once he is released from prison, goes into detail about how BK was born a male, legally changed his name and gained a gender recognition certificate in 2020. It states he’s on a waiting list to be assessed for “appropriate medical treatment in relation to her gender”. She:her pronouns are still used throughout, and it’s not mentioned that he’s housed with women, but leaves it to us to read between the lines. He’s still intact and clearly going to be housed with women.

IIRC he was actually denied transition treatment by evaluators because even they could see he was a violent psychopath, but that’s not mentioned.

I find it interesting though that in the later article they were a lot more honest about who they were covering.

I find a glimmer of hope there.

Maybe they are looking to regain trust from readers.

BK is horror movie-level frightening. Buffalo Bill looks mild next to him.

Buffalo Bill is less scary looking than the average AGP TIM, I think! But BK is on another level.

“Maybe they are looking to regain trust from readers”

This will take a lot more than one article, of course. It should take public apologies and specific commitment to actual journalism. Not particularly the Irish times, but newspapers and journalists in general. I find myself doubting everything on NPR for example, because I know they are lying about JKR.

They need to stop parroting the current sound bites, and do their actual jobs, again. Journalism. Investigate. Find out, for example, what JKR actually said, don’t resort to innuendo, no vague comments about “anti-trans statements”. Name those statements. I dare you (them?)(hah made me laugh).

I agree, but the fact that a year ago the fact that BK is a TIM was completely omitted from the news article covering his case. For all the reader knew we were dealing with a super strange case of a woman wanting to r-pe her mother. A year later the same paper and same author made a point of explaining this was a TIM we’re dealing with.

The AP guidelines, lobbied for by trans activist groups, have been instructing journalists for years now not to mention a suspect is trans, nor bring up their former names, actual sex and even avoid posting photos of the subject. All this to hide that a suspect is trans so as to not “ignite hate”.

But this journalist seemed done hiding it.

Well, good, truth is all we need. If the perp is trans identified, say so. The TRAs know (knew) this would reveal the underlying pathology of their cohort

It HaS nOtHiNg To Do WiTh GeNdEr is a lot of what I’m seeing.

And that Prison is a magical place where they protect inmates, and rapes and assault aren’t allowed to happen, so it’s not even issue.

We should all be so lucky to go to that magical place then.

"IIRC he was actually denied transition treatment by evaluators because even they could see he was a violent psychopath, but that’s not mentioned."

When I first read about Barbie Kardashian, I learned that the clinician who evaluated him for "gender treatment" thought he was a poor candidate, based on his mental health, But that didn't stop him from "becoming" a "woman", because self-ID is the law of the land now, in Ireland. This policy was snuck into law by taking it on to the same-sex marriage law a few years back, which had a lot of popular support. Sneaky! It looks like there's going to be hell to pay.
