“We don’t need to be gender neutral because breastfeeding is not gender neutral. It is sex specific.”

Oh, please.

It absolutely infuriates me to see our side participate in this Orwellianism. Breastfeeding is in fact "gender neutral," because the woman doing it can claim to be any gender, every gender, or no gender at all, as she chooses.

BREASTFEEDING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "GENDER."

According to Australian data, only 22 of the 305,000 females who gave birth in the country in 2019 identified as “trans men,” leading many Australian breastfeeding professionals to question the purpose of overhauling the system to exclude the majority for the purposes of including a miniscule minority.

22 is 0.0072131147540984% of 305,000.

From the booklet:

  • Feeding from the body can help the birthing parent’s body return to their pre-pregnant state more quickly.

  • Birthing parents who have not fed from the body are more likely to get breast or ovarian cancer.

  • Menstruation is likely to return sooner in birthing parents who are not feeding from the body.

  • Lactation’s contraceptive effect can delay the return of fertility in parents who have ovaries and a uterus.

Ridiculous.

ETA: funny how it's okay to say breast cancer but not breast feeding

"Feeding from the body" "Human body milk"

Don't they hear how that sounds?

Disgusting.

and what's up with 'the body'. It sounds like a bad AI robot wrote that.

If breastfeeding increases dysphoria surely the whole getting pregnant and giving birth would also increase that dysphoria given that it is a wholly female thing to do?

Thats what I said on reddit pregnancy sub and was told that it is hard for TIFS to go through pregnancy, and we have to support them by using inclusive language. I quit the subs as they are policing words like woman, ladies, mum, and pregnant woman.

“Women who don’t identify [as women] are very rare. They have very complex, high risk pregnancies and may choose not to breastfeed their baby as it exacerbates gender dysphoria. It is well beyond the scope of volunteer mother-to-mother breastfeeding counsellors to meet the psychosocial and medical needs of these people.”

Holy shit this group is made up of VOLUNTEER mothers, whose qualifications are basically made up of their personal experiences with pregnancy along with some training videos, and yet they're being asked to cater to TIFs, whose bodies are pumped full of drugs and minds are pumped full of propaganda that normal women can't possibly be expected to relate to or have knowledge of? Isn't this basically asking these women to commit medical malpractice?

In a series of video training modules [...] Jennifer Hurrell, a branch president of the ABA, is heard saying “a transgender woman cannot usually give birth … but it may be possible for her to breastfeed a baby” and cites lactation induction as an option.

“Breastfeeding mothers who have trained as counsellors do not want to help men induce lactation.” Brenda says, going on to assert that “There is no evidence babies can survive on male ‘lactation’ … There is no basic science about what male bodies exposed to synthetic feminizing hormones secrete from their nipples.”

WHAT THE FUCK? Not only are they being asked to cater to TIFs, but TIMs, too?! And with the TIMs, they aren't just being expected to know how to handle them medically, but they're expected to cater to their sick fetish, and also potentially be complicit in abusing an infant by encouraging it to consume whatever the fuck TIMs secrete? This is honestly criminal.

While inducing lactation in biological males is supported, in the Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding, and Human Milk Feeding booklet trans men who are dysphoric about their lactation are given tips on how to suppress their body’s ability to breastfeed.

HOW THE HELL are any volunteer mothers who joined a breastfeeding organization supposed to be able to relate to a TIF's desire to SUPPRESS lactation?! WHAT? A breastfeeding association that expects its volunteers to help women NOT breastfeed?!?

This might be one of the craziest articles on this topic I've seen. The Australian Breastfeeding Association is basically asking their volunteers to commit medical malpractice, abuse infants, help TIFs NOT breastfeed, and also act as involuntary "sex workers" by expecting them to partake in a TIM's fetish.

Bravo to Brenda for speaking out to get this shit public, and thank you to Anna for writing such a great article, and as always, huge thanks to MK for founding a platform to host the article.

Yeah!

It's a bit like going to a car-driving course and teaching people not to drive.

hello frens

I hope you enjoy the article :)

'Brenda' is a brave lady!

YES! Lactation consultants aren't gender therapists and its unfair to force that role upon them!

While inducing lactation in biological males is supported, in the Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding, and Human Milk Feeding booklet trans men who are dysphoric about their lactation are given tips on how to suppress their body’s ability to breastfeed.

So, basically, the health of babies takes a backseat so that narcissistic parents can validate their gender nonsense. TIMs are encouraged to secrete mystery nipple goo in their kids mouths while their actual mothers are encouraged to stop their breastmilk supply. And lactation consultants have to smile and go along with this shit lest they get labeled bigots.

This is so fucking gross. Gender-specials shouldn't bring innocent babies into their fantasy world if they fall apart from hearing the word "breast" or "mother"

[–] nobitary [OP] Brainoeba 13 points (+14|-1)

Yeah. The org was created to help women breastfeed. Breastfeeding's good for the women, it's essential for the babies.

And now they are helping some women NOT to breastfeed and some men to sexually abuse kids.

"Brenda notes her concern over the ABA’s shift towards supporting behavior which she says is completely contradictory to her job as a breastfeeding counselor. This includes affirming radical “top surgeries” for female-to-male transitioners, which will often destroy a female’s ability to naturally breastfeed, and supporting male-to-female transitioners who wish to induce lactation.

In a series of video training modules given to educate the ABA’s counselors on gender neutral and inclusive language, Jennifer Hurrell, a branch president of the ABA, is heard saying “a transgender woman cannot usually give birth … but it may be possible for her to breastfeed a baby” and cites lactation induction as an option.

Fuck yes Brenda, she tells it like it is. This is so wrong to say women are discriminating against men they don't want to assist in lactation.

[–] [Deleted] 24 points (+24|-0)

Men trying to breastfeed should 100% be considered child abuse.

Also, why the shift to “chestfeeding” when it is known that men can get breast cancer… we don’t call it “chest cancer”…

Anyway glad people are fighting this madness. I haven’t had a kid yet but have thought about it and almost don’t want to because I don’t want to be called a “birthing person” or deal with any of this gender bullshit.

[–] Luckystar 4 points (+4|-0)

Chestfeeding is also just inaccurate, the chest and breasts are two different things anatomically. There's just so much evidence that none of this new language is actually about being "inclusive" and that it's actually about erasing women. They only target women's bodies with their newspeak, we don't hear about "prostate-havers" or "ejaculators". The alternatives always sound really gross and dehumanizing. And there are virtually no people actually using them. There's what, literally just that one trans "dad" in the UK that gets trotted out every time. She's a useful idiot for them.
