Today I switched from listening to a Helen Joyce interview to a true crime podcast because I wanted to change topics for a little bit, you know? Well, the minute the episode starts the hosts start apologizing for misgendering an honest-to-god serial killer. They said they really didn't want to offend anyone, and that they were sorry the witness accounts described a MALE FIGURE. It's just insane to me how it's more important to validate this literal murderer's feelings than, you know, being loyal to what people actually experienced.

I've been hearing the "it doesn't matter if 'she' murdered someone, it doesn't give you the right to misgender 'her'!" mantra for over a decade now, and I've realized it's actually true! My right to speak the truth is not contingent on a man committing violence; I have it regardless of whether he commits a violent act or not.

I noticed this as well. Truly boring that it seeps in everywhere. For example, the hosts of My Favorite Murder also chants the trans cult mantras 😒

It's exhausting, no other demographic gets the kid gloves to this degree.

More proof it’s all lies. If you have to keep validating something it’s probably not valid.

I’m not sure if you still listen, but I was pleasantly surprised with the MFM ladies this week (episode 291 I believe). At the end of the episode they talked about Texas’s abortion bill and both of them referred to it as a women’s rights issue every time, Georgia called it a bounty on women’s heads and a war on women and and Karen also said it’s a women’s right to choose what happens to her body. Maybe next week they’ll be issuing a correction but at least it gives me hope that they don’t actually believe in/care about the trans nonsense they’ve spouted a couple times before on the podcast.

Another thing I liked? They were giving to non-profits to support a woman’s right to choose that WEREN’T Planned Parenthood, who I feel has completely abandoned women in favour of the gender woo and damaging the bodies of minors.

They’ve given money to trans charities before though. They are well aboard the trans train. I feel like Georgia is fairly impressionable and seems to go along with what others around her are saying about any hot button issue, but honestly it depresses me so much that Karen, who seems more of an independent thinker, can’t see gender ideology for what it clearly is - a misogynistic movement committed to trampling on safeguarding measures and women’s boundaries. But then I remember how long I stayed blind to the movement’s true purpose, and supportive of their vacuous contradictory mantras before peaking, so change is possible I guess

ETA: I don’t really see a rad fem analysis / splinter group of the MFM fandom taking off given what I’ve already outlined in this post, but if it ever was to happen I hope it would be called My Favorite Terfder

Because this position doesn’t offend the left when the right is on the other side.

They'll likely issue a correction (and a simpering apology) when some gender-special contacts them and claims to be triggered by them saying that abortion restrictions impact women

[–] InfiniteGames 5 points (+5|-0)

They will call it a womens' rights issue, to shepherd us to the voting booth.

They will call separate spa rooms for natal women discrimination because inclusion, to shepherd the woke to the voting booths.

The GOP is picking a fight on this one because they know, eventually, they're going to win Republican and Independent female voters, and they know there is potential for GC Democratic and liberal women to stay home; Barrack Obama was in the White House for 8 years and Mitch McConnell beat him at the SCOTUS game. 45 had the office for 4 years and got to appoint 3 SCOTUS judges and hundreds of smaller bench judges.

So ... as a woman who is no longer of an age to get preggers, knowing that the generations who came after me were too frightened of being called baby killers and feminists, or just too apathetic to vote in local elections, why should I not be of the mind to give them a reminder of what life was like before women had the chance to choose any career path she wanted without being a freak?

I think I know what podcast you're talking about. Morbid, right? It pisses me off as well - also how they talk constantly about prostitutes being murdered and it's a dangerous thing to be doing but then go on to say how they still support "sex work" It might not be the same podcast but they apologized while basically crying and the dude is a SERIAL KILLER.

[–] sarahsmile 19 points (+19|-0) Edited

They also mentioned a corpse found with breasts and laughed off the notion that we could presume it was a woman. Part of their mission is to aid in solving cold cases, so I’m a little shocked they’d put woo first.

yeah, it was morbid! it was bizarre to listen to that intro

[–] DarkLordOfTheCis 22 points (+22|-0)

I listen to a lot of true crime youtubers/podcasts too and nope tf out whenever I hear gendercult shit.

[–] ElectricBlue 21 points (+21|-0)

Haven't there been a few manhunts for TIMs that went badly because police wouldn't come out and say the perp was actually a man, so people were on the look out for a woman?

[–] pennygadget 16 points (+16|-0)

I dunno know about manhunt. But there was one sad story about a TIM whose sister reported him as a "missing woman" to the media and local authorities. So it took a long time before authorities figured out that a male body they found in the creek was her "missing sister"

wow, really? i didn't know this, but it's just horrible for anyone these men hurt.

[–] no- 21 points (+21|-0)

TRAs: that horrible murderer/rapist is trans! Don't misgender her!

Also TRAs: transwomen don't do anything bad ever, they deserve unlimited access to their vic-- I mean, women's spaces!

[–] pennygadget 12 points (+12|-0)

Also TRAs: "And don't listen to the survivors claiming that a man raped them and tried to kill them! Those women are probably TERFs who provoked that poor, oppressed trans-woman by misgendering her!! The b!tches are probably lying (and if they're not lying, they deserved it)!"

[–] sarahsmile 17 points (+17|-0)

As the hosts exhort women to be vigilant and not worry about being polite.

[–] pennygadget 11 points (+11|-0)

As the hosts exhort women to be vigilant and not worry about being polite.

This is a good point. They tell us to be vigilant and trust our inner voice. But if your inner voice tells you to "RUN" when a man in drag follows you in the parking lot or bathroom; you need to silence it for the sake of social justice. And make sure to ask for pronouns when the creeper rapes you so you don't misgender him in the event that you live to report the crime!

[–] GenderHeretic 16 points (+16|-0)

But I thought there were no TIM serial killers! TRAs were very clear about how JK Rowling was spreading lies and hate against trans women when her book featuring a cross-dressing serial killer (ie. a "cis" man) came out.

[–] Researcher1536 15 points (+15|-0)

Ughh which one is it so I don't listen?

[–] winterghost [OP] 15 points (+15|-0)

it was "morbid", i think it was a late 2020 episode but i couldn't tell you anything more about it because i immediately exited spotify lmao

[–] BurnBooker 21 points (+21|-0)

The host received a flood of criticism aftet sayjng she didn't care how a murderer identified. Much like MFM, I find the constant apologizing annoying but indicitive of the sexism online. Male podcasts aren't expected to be perfectly PC.

[–] sarahsmile 7 points (+7|-0)

It’s funny, because in doing so she lost a ton of listeners and potential listeners.

you definetely have a point. i didn't listen to the other episode it was referencing, so i had no idea what she actually had said in that one. i just listened to the apology and it was very much peak material

[–] ComplicatedSpirit 13 points (+13|-0)

Wait. They were sorry the witness accounts described a male figure?

You don’t apologize for that, unless the witness is deliberately lying. Ever.

If someone says that what they believe they saw was an East Asian male of short height and slight weight, wearing a light-colored tank top and light tan shorts with no shoes, and it turns out the perpetrator was a heavyset Hispanic woman wearing a tube dress and sandals, the witness doesn’t owe anyone an apology. That witness is reporting back what they saw, and they could have been mistaken. It’s that simple. E

Even if the murderer had been an actual, real woman that they had mistakenly identified as a man. They would owe her nothing. Sayint “well even though you did see a man, but he really wants you to call him a woman” is not only unwarranted for the reason I gave here, it’s laughablec and insulting to the victim. Victims don’t owe their attackers Jack shit, and society doesn’t have to respect the gender feels of serial killers.

[–] viragoeternal 10 points (+10|-0)

correctly sexing serial killers as radical praxis!

but yeah, it's EVERYWHERE. there is literally no escape anymore. I go into every new piece of media I consume mentally preparing myself for it to pop up somewhere. still, it always makes my heart sink when it does. it just corrupts the material with total inauthenticity. it's hard to go on enjoying in the same way. with podcasts I know the hosts often only know the most superficial information and mostly want to be kind, but it's distressing to realise just how far the insanity has gotten.

You should’ve seen the side-eye given by yours truly when the damn priest listed transgender people among the oppressed during Mass last year. Fortunately, not from my parish.
