GenderCritical now has over 2K subscribers! (Announcements has slightly more, and is probably a better subscriber base indicator, but there you go.)

All of this within three months of the deletion of r/GC, through an invite-only system on a platform built by GC for GC.

Thank you mods, techs, members, everyone who made this space possible! That we reached this milestone the same week that UK's GRA reform was shelved is a good sign. ✨

I was so despondent when the r/GC ban happened. Having this space has been an absolute blessing. Thank you to all who are doing the heavy lifting!

Me three! I can barely spend any time at the old place anymore. Once I found gc, the rampant misogyny and performative woqueness that permeates and rots the old hang out is so in your face and once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it.

Funny. I just had a similar experience going on Twitter and checking out a few people I used to read a lot. I now also spotted the performative woqueness and the utter lack of any deeper thought which allows it. But Reddit is of course loads more terrible.

It was truly a blessing in disguise! We came back stronger. I LOVE how we have an all-female space to talk about a variety of different subjects now, like games & movies! No stupid r*ddit mansplaining/transplaining, trolls, misogyny, etc.

Thanks to all the women here, I love you all so much 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Completely agree. It feels good to be free from Reddit and have a place where you don't keep encountering misogyny, but where instead being a woman and a GC feminist is the norm.

I'm so grateful Ovarit exists, I felt like I was drowning in gender ideology every time I went online because they can't go two seconds without validation from strangers and became increasingly desperate for somewhere I could be with just women. It feels wonderful to be somewhere it's only real women and I don't have to cater to the feelings of TIFs or TIMs.

I read GC, r/itsafetish, and r/thisneverhappens, I even had an account on there temporarily but I never felt very comfortable on Reddit due to its moderation so I went back to lurking. I was so angry when they got banned, it made me feel like there was nowhere left for women to speak online. Now I have hope!

Is Ovarit supposed to be women-only? I had thought so, but I think I saw someone say they're a man in another post.

I felt sad to have missed r/GC before I could join in, partly due to the need to create an alt Reddit account. But I'm happy that I got to join Ovarit, no matter what happens. This has been a wonderful community and the vibe is very different from Reddit. Thanks to everyone who made this place possible indeed! You're all wonderful!

I wonder what the real user count is? I'm subscribed to GC but not Announcements, yet Announcements has more subscribers.

[–] au_dela 7 points (+7|-0)

I'm curious myself about the active user count... there are at least two thousand members, but how many actually post on a regular basis?

[–] cousinanger 2 points (+2|-0)

I don't know if this is comparable but about a decade ago I saw some data on blogs which stated that roughly seven percent of those who were regular readers of a blog also commented.

Congratulations and thank you for all of your hard work!!! Having Ovarit and the other women-centered spaces that went up after the ban has been brilliant.

To the next thousands! I'm so happy and proud for us all. Thank you so much for making Ovarit happen, all of you!

THANK YOU ladies for creating this platform and letting me take part! It’s the one thing that brought me some measure of hope in this horrible bleak time, and really restored my sanity in many ways‼️👏🏽🎉❤️ SO much love and gratitude for you ALL‼️ As a brown immigrant and mother of a special needs kiddo, for the first time in my whole life I feel I have found my people!!

All those mens rights groups who set out to make their own websites and failed.
It's inspiring to see what women can achieve.
The community here is great and will surely only get better as it grows.
Thank you to everyone who made this space possible, we appreciate you 💜
