I saw this post on Leopard ate my face. The poster is a teen TIM or a stunted TIM.
In the post, a woman is upset that the edgelords, on Tumblr in Action, aren't just anti trans they are misogynist basement dwellers. These men aren't our friends.
The people in the comments are wrong as always.
Some of the talking points include.
- TERFs hate GNC women for not being womanly enough.
- TERFs are misogynist themselves akin to right wing women talking heads.
- TERFs reduce women to their bodily functions. So to say women have periods excludes TIMs but also menopausal women. But calling us menstruators was their idea.
Shout out to user/ another witch holding it down in the comments.
This is her(I'm assuming she's a woman) comment.
I actually do know the origin of TERFS, or at least I think I do. When I was in high school it was the tail end of the radical feminist era, so my original feminist training was radical.TERFS come from the school of radical feminism that believes that gender is 100% a social construct. In this belief system, there is no such thing as a person’s inner masculinity or femininity. There is only performance of gender, born of socialization and continued because of social detriments for those who failed to perform their gender and social benefits for those who perform their gender well. These performed genders are 100% about male privilege and female denigration. Gender as a concept overall is therefore 100% about female denigration. To suggest that genders “are” certain things or that a person can “be” a gender deep down in their own personal feelings just reinforces, for the TERF, the idea that women “are” less capable than men. It’s called “essentialism” and it’s a bad thing, in radical feminism, to say people “are” a gender rather than that they are merely performing it.Now add in to this an extremely high consciousness about any hint of men abusing their male privilege to put down women or take space away from women, even if the “men” in question are AMAB but in fact women and they aren’t actually trying to put down women they’re just trying to gain inclusion in women’s spaces. Those are the two reasons TERFS hate not just trans people, but really mostly trans women. They don’t believe trans women can have an “essential” womanhood, since gender is only socialization and performance. Which means within their worldview the only possible motivation for AMAB people to claim to be women is to continue to use their male privilege to invade female spaces.
She has a really good dialogue going.
