So the other day I was talking to this Australian (straight average) dude and the transgender issue came up (I take full responsibility). He asked "what do YOU think?", and after a brief silence, I said "I stand with JK Rowling".

Shocked looks.

After a lot of mansplaining of how acshualley since the dawn of time people have always been "resistant to new ideas" and this is me, just being resistant and closed-minded, and how my ideas help discriminate "a poor guy in a job interview just because he was wearing a dress and the employer thought he would freak everybody out" (defending trans and spewing "man in a dress" in the same breath without any grasp of the irony), he said "Imagine if people would discriminate against you because you're Latina and Brazilian".

Haha. "Imagine", he says. Like that doesn't happen to me every day, which actually only proves his own point dull. But I replied:

“Ah no, that's ok, because I identify as Australian, so I'm fine".

I almost saw a man implode. Like his brain was a toaster and a toast had just sprung up.

This is beautiful. I applaud you.

A man shouldn't be discriminated against for wearing a dress. That said, wearing a dress doesn't make him a woman, and neither do his "lady brain" or his religious belief in gendered essences and souls.

I love to ask these dudes straight up what JKR has ACTUALLY said or written that they disagree with and explain it to me.

Not their "general feels" about JKR but the exact issue.

I would love it too, if the occasion ever arised when they’d not be speaking over me and not listening to anything I say.

One time I asked a guy this very question and he sent me the link to Contrapoints JK Rowling video...

I almost saw a man implode. Like his brain was a toaster and a toast had just sprung up.

I love this image.

I took inspiration from a Spongebob episode. I’ve just googled “Patrick Star toaster brain gif” to try and find it to show you, and though unfortunately the jumpy toast image didn’t show, there’s a bunch of gifs of him short-circuiting from thinking that are almost just as good 😀

I read stories like this and I honestly don't understand how other women have the patience to interact with males. They are absolutely insufferable.

I see them as a lesson in patience every time I have to interact with one.

hahaha your comment actually made me giggle. I know you meant it seriously, but you put a smile on my face, haha.

“Ah no, that's ok, because I identify as Australian, so I'm fine".

You are my hero. This is epic and gave me a good laugh. He got what was coming to him.

Apparently people have been resistant to new ideas since the dawn of time and also there have been trans people since the dawn of time. Logic is not their friend. Just saying. :)

and also there have been trans people since the dawn of time

Yes, of course there were. What there HASN'T always been were cishet people. See, cishet people only came to be when the white colonization started. Cishet people are a white colonialistic construct to oppress the multicolor pexplxs of Mxther Gaia. Before white colonization, all humxn beings were nothing but gender-fluid debinarized bxdies, from fairygenders to demibxys, and the world was a tangle of deconstructed folx announcing their pronouns-du-jour with every sunrise.

I love this so much! Nice job.

I've only been educated about JKR from very earnest teenage girls who want to be good allies so I don't have any heart to take them down in debate (just nudge gently), but someday, I'd love to do this to a mansplainin manchild. Because of my age, the majority of men in life are Gen Xers, love Dave Chappelle and think TiMs who play in women's sports are p$$8e. They're no feminists but at least they know what a woman is.

They can't cope with women disagreeing. I have to remember to bring the smelling salts for them if I plan to step out of line.

Ho ho ho! You are brilliant!

Thanks. And my pronouns are Oi/Mate.

Bahaha and if he says anything feel free to exclaim “That’s UnAustralian Maaaate” bahaha 🤣 omg.

“That’s UnAustralian Maaaate”

Hahaha this one has actually made me miss Australia 🙂❤️

You could also identify as a kookaburra and play their laugh each time they say something stupid
