For acknowledging reality I guess. I'll be glad to see the demise of Twitter once the next best thing comes along. They allow some of the most disgusting misogynists to have fully active account but nope, this is going too far.

I guess the TIM mods of Twitter start to feel threatened by GC voices that have a following. Silencing the truth won't erase it.

Twitter has to be one of the worst places to be an out gender critical feminist. I swear I only ever hear bad things about that place.

The demographic there skews young. Whether that's comforting or scary is another issue though...The future generation.

Hm the lovestopshate account that claims to have done her in, reminds me of an account created previously with that avatar and header that I know was perma-banned from twitter for death threats at women, what are the chances its the same eel?

What did she say that got her banned?

Not clear, but she was the one who started that hugely successful petition in support of JKR, so no doubt there was some mass reporting going on by the TRAs.

I think that’s it exactly. She was too effective, so she had to be silenced.

Considering that Twitter is just blatantly censoring anything that isn't exactly what they want said, even from major metropolitan newspapers? If the American public has any sense, they'll just leave the platform. It's completely fucked up.

This past year has been wild. First I saw censorship regarding gender critical, then coronavirus stuff, and now all the Hunter Biden stuff.

Man this year made me realize just how much censorship there is in America and on the internet. It's really fucking wild. I feel like I've gone "through the looking glass" so to speak.

Fun bit is all the social media companies cried at Congress (forget which house, maybe the Senate) that they weren't responsible for what users post on their platforms. Okay... then why over-censor? The First Amendment DOES apply here, and Congress can't shut them down over speech. It's literally not allowed.

Yes, and it irritates me when people justify it because of "hate" or misinformation when they know full well that label is only applied to one side of things. It's not a side I sympathize with by any means and the Hunter story doesn't check out the way it's been presented, but the insistence that misinformation and anti-science views only come from one side is obviously not true.

And justifying it because private companies, well, isn't that supposed to be the right wing view that private companies should get to do whatever they want regardless of public welfare? Guess most people really find it more important to be on the winning team without caring about what the truth is.

The Hunter Biden stuff appears to be a malicious attempt by right-wing media at getting Trump more polling points he doesn't actually deserve and several elements of the story seem to be false. And if that sort of thing were all Twitter ever slapped down, plus rape/murder threats and pedo accounts, fantastic. But they're straight off the fucking rails.
