is anyone else sick of hearing the misinformation about this thing?

the new pinhead is advertised everywhere as a woman, this is triggering troglodytes moaning about feminism and always having to ruin everything with a woman.

its a TIM and frankly it looks like one even with the make up.

I am so sick of the blatant misinformation Hellraiser throws us under the bus twice, once by not giving a female actress the role and again by making misogynists think women have "ruined" the film.

The main issue outside of the TIM is the inclusion of teenagers/young adults. The reason why the original movie (ignoring the sequels) worked is because it had a mostly adult cast (so nothing like the teen-driven Friday the 13th, Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street).

I'm obsessed with Hellraiser so I resigned myself to the TIM lead, deciding I would watch regardless as I've been waiting on this movie for years. Then the trailer came out and I lost the small amount of hope I had that I would enjoy it. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but the writing/direction looks generic af.

Of course, the fact the woman's role went to a man is just icing on the shit cake, and hearing wokebro willies refer to him as a "female" is infuriating, so I'm just staying out of horror spaces for now. Hopefully the HBO show is much better, if it hasn't been axed yet.

I reccomend X and Pearl and Midsommar if you want quality female driven horror. written and directed by dudes mostly but Mia Goth had a huge hand in Pearl and I assume she will help write and/or direct Maxxxine as well

I watched X yesterday and outside of it being a tad too long, it was far too derivative of Texas Chainsaw. There's homage and then there's X.

Edit: The only Ti West movie I've genuinely enjoyed was The House of the Devil.

HARD disagree. for me Texas Chainsaw was always just slasher. X was so much more.

I forget which shitty celeb said this but it's one of my favorite joke-quotes, "You're entitled to your wrong opinion" 😂😂😂

genuinely curious how you'll feel about Pearl if you end up seeing it tho ☺️

I'm not a big Ti West fan, but I'm always about women lead horror. I'll have to check them out!

I hadnt been following Ti up til this point. I actually saw the Pearl trailer FIRST and was like woah what's this about, watched X, and then just saw Pearl in theaters. Pearl was better than X imo but I do think you should see X first so you can fully enjoy the feel of an ORIGIN story. it will have a totally different feel if you just see Pearl first imo

This is so dumb. Hellraiser is my least favorite horror franchise. But Pinhead is always the same Pinhead. And we have seen Pinhead as a human and he was a man. And he will continue to be a man, just like the TIM who is portraying him. Also female cenobites exist. Why not just make a movie about one of them?

However it's fucking hilarious that a TIM is now technically the lead Cenobite of the Order of the GASH. Seems really appropriate considering what neovags resemble.

Also, Pinhead's dead name is Elliott Spencer~

Cenobites are meant to be androgynous in the book neither male or female so if they really wanted to be accurate they should have got NBs who'd had nullification surgery. not a bloke who's had some surgery (??? I have no idea) to make him look like a woman, thats not androgynous.

I honestly don't know what he looks like under the make up but to me the make up is a mans body (you can see from his shoulders etc) with a well actually I'd say a childlike or doll like face actually.

Interesting. I think I read the novella in high school during a horror literature phase and can't recall much about it and am unfamiliar with the differences between the films and source material.

Is the female cenobite a film original character or from the novella?

Do all the people complaining realize that it's a male, not a woman?

No thats the point, its incels moaning as its being advertised as having a woman playing pinhead.

To be fair, a lot of the media coverage conveniently leaves out that fact.

On one hand, it's funny hearing the incels moan about "a FeMaLe" in the role when it is a whole-ass man, but yes it's irritating to have the role taken from an actual woman. At least an actress isn't going to have it attached to her filmography when it flops.

I don't find it funny, the incels will probably never know tbh because they will see the advertising and boycott it, yes thats a win against trans but not in the right way really is it.

Funny in the ironic sense more than anything, because they aren't even targeting a woman with their angry little rants.

Hellraiser is my favorite horror franchise so I am pretty bummed to hear about this.

Sorry for your loss, my FB is full of it so I am seeing all the neckbeards biting the misinformation to have a moan about women ruining everything, its infuriating, I think its exclusive to Hulu so we all know its going to be crap anyway.

I have never seen hellraiser because, while I like scary movies, I hate gore and torture and it’s my understanding that the whole cenobite thing is gore and mutilation for fun. In that sense, a TIM makes sense since they mutilate themselves for their fetish.

TBH I am not a big horror fan as I find the films boring, I watched nightmare on elm street because of Freddies one liners he's a fun character but I find all these screaming american teens very annoying and can't wait for them to be knocked off, I don't think I am really coming into it from the intended angle really, I can't take the gore seriously either as I know its fake. I remember when I first watched Aliens I was laughing my arse off at the chest burster scene it was so stupid with that little puppet.

and The Thing bored the hell out of me I'm affraid it was just a latex and fake blood borefest I preferred the original which was a black and white film from the 50s where there was no gore just the alien killing people one by one and taking on their identities to hide amongst the others and quietly off them all one by one.

but I digress Cenobites are meant to be androgynous not male or female and like pain, so thats an NB with nulification surgery not a tim

The voice is obviously male. I was surprised when I watched the trailer because everyone was making such a big deal about it. Also, in the original, one of the cenobites was a woman. What people make a fuss of these days is....stupid.
