I love pointing out that men say they will protect you and they mean from other men. Men create a demand for protection... by being the supply of violence.

You owe me for a chiro to get that dropped jar set back in!

Yup, this is why none of them, even the nice "feminist" allies, have any interest in actually changing society to reduce rape or violence against women. It's a terror tactic to keep all of us in line, even if these horrible things don't happen to us personally, we have to live knowing they might.

I had never thought of it that way but you’re right

I think the mainstream news media helps out with the effort as well. They make sure to feed us constant stories about abducted women and children to keep us in a constant state of panic. Not that these things should never be reported on, but they don't deserve the primetime consideration that political issues we should actually be working on do. It would be one thing if reporting these stories lead to policy changes that protected us, but they don't. They're presented as entertainment at best, and a reminder to all of us to mind our manners to avoid this fate at worst. Interesting that TIMs jump straight to threats of rape and violence whenever they want us to shut up too.

Edited to add: I think they do this with racial minorities as well. Little boys are kidnapped and white men are killed by the cops, but notice how these are never in the news? I understand that there is systemic racism in our police force, but it seems like the powers that be want this to be want to use this fear as a tactic to keep minorities in line and to make sure they focus 100% of their activism on this one issue rather than fighting for economic equality.

This is why NAMALT is so toxic: it shows that men aren’t acknowledging that they can get away with the bar being set in hell and seem great simply because they come back from childcare with the correct child, only on account of so many other men being literally terrifying and dangerous.

This is a great tweet, but sadly coming from that account it's pure hypocrisy.

I saw it on another social media site I don’t have Twitter. Still agree with the sentiment but didn’t realize.

Weird, because that account is DEFINITELY not one of the good guys, but the cartoon is savage. And it puts the lie to TWAW ... if that were true, the transbians should be 100% ok with dating each other, right? They're WIMMIN after all.

An ex once told me I should be grateful he didn’t rape me when I confronted him about his sexually coercive behaviour.

point that that the need to be protected from men is the problem in the first place.

The woman who wrote the screenshoted tweet is a big supporter of Clymer. One thing I genuinely owe her, though, is that I discovered Jane Clare Jones thanks to stumbling upon a Twitter exchange between the two of them a few years ago. What a revelation.
