Short backstory: idk if this is the right circle but it seemed the 'most right'. Anyway, weeks ago I told the LGBT police uk twitter accout to maybe go catch a rapist or something after they tweeted about misgendering being hate or something of the sort. Yesterday this got me suspended on grounds of it being 'harassment or abuse'. I appealed saying this is neither. As you can see twitter re-reviewed and decided that it is, indeed, abuse to tell the police to catch rapists.

You can't make this shit up.

It's absolutely not abuse and harassment to go around accusing people of hate crimes for using proper English tho

What the hell? Sorry, op.

i appealed again but I'm betting they won't get back to me. So I'll probably have to delete the tweet. I just honestly do not understand how twitter justifies this decision. If you read through their guidelines on abuse and harassment it basically has these points that you're not allowed to do:

  • wishing, hoping, or calling for serious harm on a person or group of people

  • hoping that someone dies as a result of a serious disease e.g., “I hope you get cancer and die.”

  • wishing for someone to fall victim to a serious accident e.g., “I wish that you would get run over by a car next time you run your mouth.”

  • saying that a group of individuals deserves serious physical injury e.g., “If this group of protesters don’t shut up, they deserve to be shot.”

  • excessively aggressive insults that target an individual

  • encouraging or calling for others to harass an individual or group of people

so how my tweet fits into that, i will never know

encouraging or calling for others to harass an individual or group of people

Oh, that'll be it, you were encouraging the police to harass rapists. Have Twitter added rapists to their official list of protected groups yet?

I'm sorry, I didn't consider the feelings of rapists here. It must feel horrible to know people are trying to put you in jail for just being yourself.

Well, you were abusing the police, they're a powerless, oppressed group /s

To be honest, my best bet is just a lazy admin who clicks refuse on all appeals to clear up their queue. But we'll see.

Was this a lock (delete the tweet and let you back after a time lock) or a ban outright? :(

[–] kalina [OP] 5 points (+5|-0)

a lock, but not a temporary one - I now settled to just delete it bc it had only one reaction anyways so I'm back. So, I had to delete it if I ever wanted to use that account again.

Wow you can now get banned on Twitter for telling people to, like, do their job?

[–] MadSea 19 points (+19|-0)

Or for talking about your job. Me saying we give the same drugs they use as puberty blockers to sex offenders to chemically castrate them got me permanently banned. I work treating sex offenders, lol. Twitter sucks.

Sounds like a TiM has a lot of moderation power on Twitter.

I follow you!!! Anyway, that's the same police account that posted that RIDICULOUS photo of one of their officers in a rainbow beetle-looking thing. So humiliating. Who could take them seriously as police?

Until we file a class action suit against twitter, alleging harm, they will keep doing this.

If this doesn't hallmark the utter obfuscity of twitter's rules then idk wtf does
