If you want some REAL fun, take a read through the BITE model and see how the gender identity movement stacks up.

I'm a cult survivor (born and raised into one) and over the last year, I have DEFINITELY felt over and over and over again the same feelings that I went through leaving the cult. I've noticed the same behaviors in people I engage with and the same patterns of institutional control. It's straight up a cult.

Same I was born and raised in a religious cult, and it definitely follows the model. The made up definitions, not allowing any questioning, the canceling aka excommunicating previous members. It's sick.

Yup, the in-group jargon was one of the first red flags I noticed, followed very swiftly by the cancelling/silencing tactics, followed by the distortion of information and facts. Between those three things, the whole house of cards came tumbling down.

QQ, and feel free to not answer if its too personal, but which religious cult were you raised in?

I was raised a Jehovah Witness. Another one of those not obvious on the outside. But when one of your FAQ is are you a cult, than surely there must be a reason.

I was told never to do outside research growing up. That no one outside the org really loved us and was a tool of Satan and would kill and hurt us. The insane love bombing in the beginning, etc. I did some research once, scared at work so I wouldn't be found out, and then turned in a letter and left.

Any family or friends left in it consider me dead. They can't talk, smile, or anything with me. I committed no "sin", I just wanted to leave because I found out their lies.

This isn't just fringe groups of them. This is the main tenet and how ALL Jehovah Witnesses believe. They are a mainstream cult, a doomsday fundamentalist religion.

Wow you were not kidding. It's incredible how well it lines up. For those who didn't click, the first few points mentioned are:

Regulate individual’s physical reality
Distort information to make it more acceptable
Require members to internalize the group’s doctrine as truth
Change person’s name and identity

And many others really, really fit

The originator of the BITE model, Dr. Hassan, has two great Twitter threads, here and here, where he discusses his observations of the trans movement and how it aligns with his research on cults.

It really, really lines up.

Thank you, that was insightful. I will share it when I have the occasion.

Use of loaded language and clichés which constrict knowledge, stop critical thoughts and reduce complexities into platitudinous buzz words

I mean it basically makes you want to cut and paste the whole thing over and over.

I'm a cult survivor as well which is why I have a lot of compassion for those who get dragged into the gender cult. However, my compassion ends where cult members actively start to engage in hurting children, women and lgb people. But yeah, this list tracks, and add that cult members are encouraged to take harmful substances like pb and csh.

I didn't read the heading and assumed this is one of the "educational" materials TRAs distribute amongst themselves 😂. Just add some "smol bean cat ear girl" illustrations instead of a header and watch it soar over tumblr 😂.

Probably been posted before but couldn't find it in a search, so worth a refresher.

I want this plastered in female spaces with a link/AR code to Ovarit.

How can gender identity be both innate and fluid? Or am I not understanding something?

[–] normcore 3 points (+3|-0)

I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to understand it. Multiple varying explanations keep us on our toes because we can never understand it on our own, so we're stuck taking TRAs word for everything. Don't understand? LISTEN TO TRANS FOLX. Ask for an explanation? STOP ASKING US TO DO THIS LABOR FOR YOU AND EDUCATE YOURSELF. We can't argue against them because they'll just pick and choose which explanation to use.

[–] z6iiab 1 points (+1|-0)

that's because there's no real explanation, and they don't want us to figure that out. otherwise, everyone would be calling out their bullshit.

I think it could be argued that you can be born with something and it can still change over time. For example your height.

Gender identity is still a dumb and regressive concept anyway.
