Signed. I am outraged at this grooming of young women. They go to university to get an education and expand their chances in life and they are met with policies aimed at reminding them that they are just objects for consumption. I hate the sheer misogyny of this.

Exactly! It is outrageous. We think the most likely thing that will get them to rethink is the pressure of public opinion, which this petition is aiming to harness. So do please share it and encourage your contacts to sign it. Thank you!

Change.org cancelled the petition against Laurel Hubbard in the Olympics that I signed so I'm not very confident in using their platform.

When I went to Community College 10 years ago, I got brochures for selling my eggs (promising up to $10k). Its truly sad that Colleges don't care to protect girls from this predatory shit

but it's a women's job to help literally everyone else before helping herself.

Society is working so hard to normalise the idea of prostituting yourself to earn "easy money" as a student.
I remember in the UK it seemed to really kick off with Belle Hooks and the secret diary series. Throughout my time in uni there were articles and TV interviews about women doing it, and how somehow it wasnt gritty and invasive if you were going to be a doctor or lawyer in a few years.. just a means to an end.
Some of the girls I know who did it seem very active with fundraising or supporting trauma and sexual abuse charities now.
They were sold a lie as teenagers.. now with only fans that lie can be sold to your kids through their own phones by influencers they trust -no need for tv interviews or public discussions where they may hear contradictory viewpoints.

Gosh you could be the most vigilant mother in the world and your daughter could still be mentally conscious of how long before she can start an onlyfans. It's shocking 😔

And onlyfans is much harder to hide or move on from than the "empowering sex work side hustle" of my generation (Millennial)--I was part of the generation of young women groomed in the tumblr sugar baby world and I'm so thankful onlyfans wasn't around when I was younger. My sex work was a brief and depressing period of trauma and self-harm that I could walk away from with little consequences to my real life, aside from my own internal trauma that I'm still healing from over 6 years later, a staunchly anti-sex work point of view, and a few funny and cringey stories that I like to pull out and share with my closest friends.

Conversely, at UAL, the top arts university in the UK, one student has set up a petition that seems to be advocating student sex work

Sex work is not only approved of but verging on actively encouraged at an increasing number of universities.

According to this popular student website, the proportion of students who would turn to sex work in the event of a cash crisis has risen to 10%, up from 6% in 2019. Assuming most of those are female, that's a shocking proportion.

Gotta pay back those student loans so the university can build another new dorm and fleece some more kids. Universities have become the pimps.
