Also very confusing to block someone, but then to keep responding to them?

Ms. Penny posts such utter garbage, and lately she's been trying to get out of discussions about her tweets by claiming the people replying are being abusive, or that "debate" isn't valuable anymore and something of the past. I guess she just wants her followers to swallow her nonsense whole and accept every single stupid word.

She ? Isn't that a dude ?

In any case, they answer and block because they want to have the last word, and possibly because they're dreading the answer. Arguing online is draining.

No, Laurie Penny is indeed a woman. She's just "non binary".

At this point I've trained myself to believe that everyone who wants to argue with me online is really just Colin Robinson.

This is the best thing i have read all week. It's only Monday morning here so I guess the week peaked early for me. I am, however, going to use this forever.

YES! Why should only they get boundaries? Oh I know. Because males get to do whatever they want, we don't.

FWIW Laurie is in fact a woman, just "non binary". Very confusing from a US perspective because apparently she chose "Laurie" (her name was Laura) due to it being gender neutral, but at least in the US it's definitely not seen that way.

That's a change when it comes to US views of the spelling "Laurie" then – my mother made me read Louisa May Alcott's books and the gross guy she marries off her best and most interesting character to is nicknamed "Laurie."

I want to headdesk so bad at the hypocrisy.

She also tweeted this recently:

Liberal debate was once the best way of managing conflict that had ever been tried. It was a defense against monarchy and authoritarianism. But as lots of us learn in therapy, the tools that protected us from past danger are often the things that hold us back in the present.

She's using what she's learned in therapy regarding coping mechanisms to justify 'no debate', which ironically and inevitably leads to the very authoritarianism that she's claiming to defend against. Makes me want to double-headdesk.

I kinda have a gripe with this new approach. Therapy is meant for interpersonal relationships and for yourself to be better and deal with things.

It does not apply to political situations, when you become a public figure it stops being about you. You can draw line for sure, with respect to your private life but then you're speaking about the beliefs you're representing you absolutely have to engage with the public, with people who agree and those who disagree.

People like her have no place in such a world, because they lack the maturity to navigate that environment. Truthfully a lot of our officials have no business being in office, but at least they know how to shmooze with the best of them.

Yes, exactly! Trans people are doing their communities a great disservice by making their mental health issues into a civil rights issue. The public should absolutely make space for people with mental health issues, but public life should not be based on the conceptions of people with mental health issues.

TRA: “No means no!”

Woman: “Brill. No, then.”

TRA: “F-ING TERF! BIGOT! PHOBIC! CANCEL! DEATH!”

TRA: “No means no!”

Woman: “Brill. No, then.”

TRA: “F-ING TERF! BIGOT! PHOBIC! CANCEL! DEATH!”

TRA: "Only I am allowed to say no and set boundaries! You peasant TERFs will suck girldique and be grateful for it!"

We're screaming "no", and they're denying our no's. They're forcing us and silencing us.... frightening how similar to something else this is. But what else would I expect from a movement run by depraved males.

Classic TRA. Little girls need to "renegotiate" their boundaries against adult male penises in changing rooms. But if you ask the TRAs to explain their positions, they're like, "HELP! HELP! I'M BEING HARASSED AND ABUSED!!!"

Another response after Laurie Penny's is golden:

You should just not look at Helen's tweets. It's rude to stare don't you know.

OMG Thats amazing! 🤣🤣

She seems to be co-opting words for other things just to say she doesn't want to talk with someone she disagrees with. No means no? Boundaries? lmao, it's like spewing out stuff that has gravity, but in a totally wrong context.

This is typical for rich, privileged kids LARPing social justice. They talk a big game because they're used to being endlessly coddled, catered to, and told how brilliant they are. So, when someone calls them out on nonsense and informs them that their shit stinks just like everyone else's, they don't know how to cope.

The funniest thing is that Penny accuses none other than Helen to be unwilling to answer her questions, while the Staniland Question is so famous precisely because no one dares to reply with yes or no!

This once again demonstrates how the easiest way to argue with a TRA is to just turn their own arguments against them because they're contradicting themselves left and right.

"no means no" except for when it's a lesbian saying no to dick
