I can't believe these TRAs are so hypersensitive about their feelings being hurt that they are willing to stomp on everything good she's ever done just to point to the fact that she has a different opinion than them. And the fact that half of the internet is siding with the TRAs. Wow... just... wow. I have lost all hope for humanity.

I mentioned admiring her for her charity work on Reddit (I know...) a while back and got nothing but downvotes and a couple of comments telling me she's a transphobe/homophobe/supporting transphobic lobbies so any and all of her charity work is null and void! When I politely disagreed and asked for proof of any of the aforementioned claims and which "transphobic" lobbies in particular she was supporting, so that I could do my own research on the matter, I got absolutely no response.

TRAs are willfully ignorant and the only reason they get away with it is because most people are too scared of being branded a TERF to openly disagree with their nonsense. Hopefully, more people will start looking into what these pillocks are constantly having meltdowns over, and realise that it's a load of old shit.

I think it also stems from many performative progressives and TRAs just swallowing whatever the woke hivemind tells them instead of doing their own research and forming their own opinions. If someone like Contrapoints claimed that Rowling prances down the London streets at night casting avada kadabra on transgender sex workers, many of his TRA acolytes and handmaidens would blindly believe it and spread that obvious lie all over the internet

I think their insanity is part of their armor here. The average reasonable person takes one look at it, thinks 'that can't be right,' and looks away. Their mainstream ideology looks like it HAS to be the absolute fringe of the fringe. People assume we have safeguards, gatekeepers, nothing that insane could ever get through. People assume there's no way a serious elected official would seek the consultation of an adult man who claims to literally be a 6 year old girl on matters of legislation.

The one I keep running up against when talking with people about this is they tend to stick to 'no one's saying sex isn't real.' And when it comes to, say, Maya Forstater, and how it's not just being said, acknowledging sex is real has been made a fireable offense, they just. can't. compute. They have faith that "our people" are sane.

The old "refuge in audacity" trope. Funny in fiction, not so fun in real life.

I don't think it's a coincidence that comedians specializing in absurdity have been particularly vocal in pointing out the ridiculousness of this movement.

Yep. They never EVER reply when we ask for actual proof that Joanne is a bigot/“tRaNsPhoBe”/etc, especially for direct quotes!!! None of them bothered to read her essay or any of her words about the subject.

I know that a lot of people peaked over JKR when they looked into the issue. Good on them. But I agree, almost all TRAs are willfully ignorant.

Thank god for Rowling, seriously. I'd send her a box of chocolates but I'm sure she's very paranoid about deliveries atm :(

The treatment she's getting has been peaking people in my sphere left and right. Most people like JKR or are neutral on her at most. She's pretty famous for going from billionaire to millionaire from the sheer number of donations she's given. There's not really much about her that is controversial EXCEPT this one single thing. And the fact that she's being treated like a nazi for saying that females are females makes the whole transgender movement look absolutely nutty.

She's inspired so many people to speak up, I admire her so much. I wasn't really ever into Harry Potter as a child, more an Eragon girl (I know), but her bravery has made her the most inspirational woman to me. She taught me that even if it seems like the world is hell bent on silencing you, that you can make a difference by sharing your experience. I know that her wealth makes that easier than for an average woman, but that just shows she's willing to use her power for a cause she fully believes in, even if it means being harassed, threatened and mocked by people who don't care about women or actively hate them.

JKR, you'll always be woman of the year to me.

I hope she reads this website and our adoration for her. (I strongly suspect she was a reader, perhaps even anonymous participant/commenter, in the old r/GenderCritical and related subreddits before they were banned.)

I truly, truly hope she knows how much we love her and praise her bravery each day. I think her knowing that the LGB and radfem community supports her and has her back 100% is what inspires her to keep speaking out, despite the horrible threats she gets. Well, plus the fact that this issue is so very important.

Feminists (true feminists, not libfems) have gotten everything we’ve had by being loud and speaking out, even when threatened and people have tried to silence us.

She is such an amazing, beautiful radiant soul. So inspiring. I hope to have even one shred of the bravery she has.

I'm sure that she's a lurker (Hello Jo!). And I wouldn't be surprised if she posted under an alias as well.

I'm chuckling associating Queen Jo with really off character comments like. "WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD RIGHT NOW IS EVERYONE INSANE, JESUS CHRIST"

I wrote Rowling a thank you note and her assistant actually sent me a letter back that said she knows and appreciates the support from women like me 🙂

Bingo. I had an instructor at school whom I actually really like (and I really liked her class) but someone mentioned something about Harry Potter and my instructor said she had soured on JK Rowling lately. I rolled my eyes. It wasn't the time or place for a debate, but I wanted to say "really, why? what did she do?" To try and get them to explain. People on Reddit especially are just in an echo chamber about her. So stupid. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and JK Rowling's bravery in standing up for truth makes me like it even more.
