The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport has just come out with a report that it commissioned entitled "Transgender Women Athletes and Elite Sport: A Scientific Review". As you might guess, it is not scientific at all.

It admits that "there is almost no research on the performance advantage held by trans female athletes over cisgender women" but then goes on to say that “trans women who have undergone testosterone suppression have no clear biological advantages over cis women in elite sport.”

Martina Navratilova responded: "The advantages are obvious even with mitigation. Prove there is no advantage and then include, not the other way around. Women get the short straw again and I am sick of it!"

Of course it would be Canada. Canada is by FAR the most "woke" country in the world when it comes to gender stuff and other absolute bonkers madness.

🇨🇦🤦 it's sooo embarassing.

Quelle surprise, everything pro trans men in women's sport is fantastic science from neutral sources with airtight experimental procedure, but anything suggesting they have an advantage is junk science with flawed processes, insufficient sample size from testers with An Anti-trans Agenda. I especially liked this:

• There are troubling links between some researchers, sport organizations, and third organizations with anti-trans agenda;

No mention that there just might be one or two with links to some with pro-trans agenda.

The whole thing is a study in obfuscation, manipulation and bias.

The biomedical perspective views the physiology of trans women’s bodies as the source of perceived unfairness, with medicalized interventions (such as estrogen supplementation and testosterone suppression) as the resolution. More specifically, this perspective holds that sexual dimorphism between those assigned male at birth (AMAB) and those assigned female at birth (AFAB) is the reason for athletic differences.

Yes, sexual dimorphism in humans is a thing and it does account for the vast differences between male and female athletic performance and potential.

But only misogynistic male supremacist TRAs think and claim that a "resolution" to the "perceived unfairness" of TIMs muscling in on female sports can be brought about by TIMs undergoing medical interventions such as T suppression and exogenous estrogen supplementation. No one grounded in reality and familiar with the facts believes this.

Testosterone measures and boundaries are typically chosen as defining characteristics of manhood and womanhood in the context of sport and are used as the predominant marker to predict and level sex-related athletic advantage and the means for inclusion criteria.

Natural testosterone levels only became the defining criteria that determines who gets to compete in women's elite sport after the IOC and IAAF (now WA) decided in the 1990s to stop mandatory DNA sex testing of all athletes seeking eligibility for women's elite international competition. Sports officials decided to abandon DNA testing for sex chromosomes and the SRY gene for one and only one reason: to open up elite women's sports competition to XY athletes with disorders/differences of male sex development who have intact testes that pump out the same - or more - massive amounts of testosterone that testes of healthy males customarily do in infancy, adolescence and adulthood.

Moreover, when officials decided to make inclusion in women's sports all about testosterone levels rather than about actual biological sex, the focus wasn't just on the amount of T that the testes of XY DSD athletes produced. The focus was also on how well the XY DSD athletes' male androgen receptors work and thus the extent to which their bodies can use/respond to the T that their testes produce. According to the new criteria introduced in the 1990s, XY athletes with faulty androgen receptors are for all intents and purposes female - and females are basically just the same as XY persons with DMSDs featuring faulty male androgen receptors and inability to utilize T in all the same exact ways that males customarily do. .

In the 21st century, the redefinition of women and female in the context of sports went even further. Misogynistic TRAs convinced sports officials at governing organizations like the IOC, IAAF/WA and NCAA that the only significant physical difference between the two sexes is natural testosterone and estrogen levels. According to the 21st century TRA-dictated view, females are physically the same as males except with lowered natural T, more estrogen, and "boobs and tubes" instead of dicks and balls. And of course with longer hair, lady brains and "woman gender identity." Thus any male who lowers his T levels a bit, takes Big Pharma estrogen, grows his hair and claims to have a lady brain and "woman gender identity" effectively becomes female and therefore should compete in women's sports.

In some places, such as the state of Connecticut, officials in the 21st century went even further, saying testosterone and estrogen levels don't matter at all. The officials in Connecticut in charge of girls' and women's scholastic sports said, and continue to maintain, that the only criteria for inclusion in the female category should be a student's claimed gender identity. According to CT officials, CT "human rights" orgs and the ACLU, any male student in CT who claims he "feels like" or "identifies as" a girl has just as much a right to compete in girls' scholastic sports as actual girls do. Moreover, they say it's a violation of the human rights of TIMs in junior high and high school to expect them to reduce their T or take estrogen in order to compete in the female category.

The second perspective is a sociocultural one. Researchers in the sociocultural field of study argue that social factors contribute to performance advantages to a far greater extent than does testosterone and that assessing testosterone levels is another way to perpetuate the long history of policing women’s bodies in sport. Researchers highlight the many social factors that contribute to differences in athletic performance, including, for example: discriminations, disparate resource allocations, inequities, and violence against women in sport in the forms of sexism and sexual violence in sport contexts, arbitrary differences in rules and equipment between men’s and women’s sport, as well as histories of barring women from certain sports. This body of work also highlights the foundational histories of anti-Blackness, anti-Global Southness, and misogyny which maintain inequities in sport.

What a load of tosh.

Also, the CT boys who were allowed to compete and clean up in girls HS track are both black. So is CeCe Telfer, the TIM who became a NCAA Division II National Women's Champion in 2019. So much for these blokes being treated unfairly due to "anti-Blackness."

Similarly, nearly all the XY DSD athletes who've been allowed to compete and triumph in women's elite international sports in the 21st century are black and from sub-Saharan Africa, which is in the Global South. (A much smaller number have been brown-skinned XY DSD athletes from India, also in the Global South).

In the summer of 2022, 12 black XY DSD athletes from the Global South were declared ineligible for the Women's African Cup of Nations soccer/football championships because they were in violation of the rules requiring them to lower their T a bit. One African country, Zambia, had four XY DSD athletes on its first-tier roster declared ineligible for WACON, including team captain Barbra Banda. The WACON football championship is run and regulated by the Confederation of African Football - whose executives are all black men from sub-Saharan African countries.

Arguments are made that the use of testosterone to exclude trans women athletes represents another phase in the long history of policing women’s bodies in sport.

LOL. Anyone who can tell that Lia Thomas is male is just policing women's bodies in sport.

Once women were allowed into competitive sport in the early 20th century, those whose athletic ability was on par with their male counterparts, or whose physique was too manly, were disqualified from competition as deviants of the gender order.

No, athletes were disqualified because they were found to be the wrong sex for women's sports. Some were males with DMSDs. Others were normally developed male chancers who decided to cheat.

Through the history of women’s sport, female athletes have been exposed to intrusive gender verification processes including medical inspection of external genitalia and chromosome testing that produced many false positives and had catastrophic impacts on athletes’ careers.

Athletes competing in elite women's events were subjected to sex testing. The inspection of external genitalia by medical personnel working for sports governing organizations went out when sex chromosome testing and SRY gene testing came in. Though regular checkups including routine gynecological care with special attention to menstrual health is recommended for all elite women athletes.

The only athletes who ever complained about sex chromosome and SRY gene testing in women's elite sports in the era when such testing was mandatory were athletes whom the testing revealed to be XY with DSDs. Female athletes had no problem with the testing.

Moreover, not all XY DSD athletes objected to the mandatory DNA testing. Many XY DSD athletes already knew they were XY with DMSDs because they had been treated for their DMSD in childhood. Others who didn't know prior to the DNA testing were relieved when they finally found out they were male with a DSD because it helped explain why they were so different from "other" girls and women - and why they had never had a period or displayed any of the signs of female puberty.

The current climate is one that focuses on testosterone levels of those athletes whose gender is deemed to be ‘suspicious.’

More BS. The only athletes in elite women's sports today whose sex gets questioned and medically investigated by sports governing bodies like the IAAF/WA are athletes who in undergoing the standard anti-doping tests that all elite athletes undergo are found to have natural testosterone levels that can only occur in persons with testes.

How fascinating: the moment one thinks Canada cannot sink any lower, it still finds a way to surprise one.

We’ve lost bathrooms. We’ve lost private spaces. We’ve lost sports. We’ve even lost our very name. What else can they take away from us?

Perhaps like Fantine, Cosette’s mother in Les miserables, we will lose our hair, our teeth…the wombs have already been rented out…

It's true. People who complain about the idea of "female identifying women" in women's bathrooms in the US or the UK have no idea that in many cities in Canada they have literally taken the women's signs off women's bathrooms completely, and without making stalls more private in any way, have now made many bathrooms (in bars, large shopping centres, restaurants etc) totally gender neutral. At least when there's still an ostensibly women's space I only have to worry about a few weird TIMs occasionally. But when there are just no women's bathrooms at all, it's a free for all and you're just pissing next to full-on dudes. And nobody wants to talk about it. Whenever I bring it up with my friends, the conversation gets awkward fast.

Would someone with experience in data analysis please have a look at this? They seem to be using data from beyond their own parameters, non- comparative charts for comparison, and all kinds of (at best) really shoddy analyses.
