It doesn't take much for these guys to turn on a woman, even their own mother who has otherwise given them a great life, and considering the misogynist that he became doesn't take much for them to turn on all women either. Go listen to this little shit publicly berate his mother for a minor comment she said in anger 50 years ago.

"Regarding my son Quentin – I support him, I'm proud of him and love him and his growing new family," she said. "It gave me great joy to dance at his wedding and receive his news upon the birth of my Grandson Leo."

Zastoupil added that it's easy for podcast comments to "spin and go viral without full context" and that she does "not wish to participate in this salacious transactional media frenzy."

Wow, his comment already sounded petty and childish on its own, but seeing her response in conjunction with it really shows who is the bigger person here. Quentin Tarantino is a pathetic misogynist who clearly doesn't deserve to have the mother he got, or the money he made by exploiting women. I can't imagine being so rich and using my wealth against someone for a statement they made DECADES ago that, while harsh, at least had good intentions.

I can't even believe how out-of-touch he is to brag about that. Is his response really proportionate to her comment? Surely most people would agree it's kind of sick...? At least they would if the sexes were reversed.

This is exactly what I thought too. Also, sorry to everyone here that’s a parent but this shouldn’t be news to you, every parent fucks up every kid in some way or another. It’s the unfortunate truth in a universe where we are raised by fallible human beings. Every parent will say or do something they wish they could take back, every parent will make a mistake so big their kid won’t forget it, and every parent is deeply flawed. Most of us grow up, recognize our parents are humans, forgive their slights against us while doing the difficult task of raising us, and move on. You know who holds grudges against their parents for their (minor in this case) parenting mistakes? Angsty teenagers.

While I will say that Quentin Tarantino doesn’t owe his parents money for choosing to be parents, the least he could do is show his mother a fraction of the grace she’s showing him right now and get her a nice gift and forgive her.

Edit: and thank her for being such a lovely mother that her biggest mistake was losing her patience and saying something regrettable. There are parents who have subjected their children to far far worse, and if that’s her biggest mistake, he was very lucky indeed. My own mother, who I love deeply, made much worse mistakes. I’m not an ingrate so it’s fine ahah

The article mentions he helped his mom out of a tight spot with the IRS, so that’s something.

And that is nice, but to me it’s kind of the bare minimum. I know statistically my parents will die in my lifetime, I wouldn’t have my mother go to her grave knowing that not only did I do very little to help her, but that I didn’t want to help her because of some childhood grudge. I certainly wouldn’t announce my grudge to the world and her, and reveal her money issues. It doesn’t paint him in a very positive light to be like “I have more money than someone could spend in a lifetime and my mom couldn’t pay her taxes so I kindly helped her out.” Come on dude, we don’t get our moms forever, if he wants to hold onto that crap and never help her out, fine, but the least he could do is not announce it to the world like he’s proud of it.
