If you’re bleeding across Wales you should seek emergency services

It’s also not polite.

When my husband lived in Wales and bled he covered the cut. He even cleaned up after himself.

I’ll bet he wishes he had had those services available to him when he lived there. It seems handy for him and other people who bleed

Its not funny but… I straight up laughed out loud when they said it’s something that “half the world’s population experiences.” If only there was a word for that half of the population. I wonder if they have anything else in common?

Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?

How do they know it's half of the population?

BTW it's not even true, because not all human females are in their fertile years...

Our aim is to break the taboo around periods

The only reason there's a taboo around periods is because only women have them. But yes, let's pretend it's a people thing.

Also calling us people who bleed is if anything going to increase the taboo

They're doing exactly the opposite of what they're claiming to do so valiantly.

"People who bleed" has to be the dumbest iteration of "inclusive" language ever. Everyone bleeds. Bleeding and periods are not the same damn thing.

Women aren’t actually bleeding during menstruation either which makes it more ridiculous

Can you explain exactly what you mean? On Medline, the USA's National Library of Medicine defines bleeding as simply "loss of blood." Yes, menstruation is different from bleeding that occurs due to illness or injury, but it still involves loss of blood - for some loss of massive amounts of blood.

Well your period is not just blood, it contains the actual uterine lining, the endometrial cells. It also contains anticoagulants, because when you’re actually bleeding your blood has platelets that try to prevent it, but your body doesn’t want to prevent your period. So compositionally and functionally a period is different to bleeding.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw this...they are referring to everyone? 😂

Hmm why not call it people's health then?

Good luck trying to decrease period stigma when we can't even say women exist and have periods. Fucking handmaidens.

It might be because I'm not English but this sentence sounds comical. I imagine a group of people travelling across Wales in a hot air balloon and literally bleeding all over the landscape from a minor cut.

I was about to say something similar! 🤣 It's not you, it's very poorly phrased.

I bled across a hockey rink in northern Michigan once. is this the same thing?

That just sounds like someone hacked up a corpse and dragged it across 300 miles of Wales. Like the kind of blood trails you see in murder scenes where the killer had to drag the corpse off except this time it stretches off ridiculously far into the distance

Reminds me of that Midsomer Murders scene where it looked like a bloodbath in a kitchen, but no, the chef had been drowned in a tub of gazpacho.
