LOL that's not what passive rehabilitation/range of motion is...

Disgusting. I feel so bad for all the massage therapists who have to encounter them. They probably purposeful go to the locations which enslave human trafficking victims though.

Isn’t chiropractic manipulation considered medical quackery? Physical therapy / massage therapy are legit, though…

Yes, it doesn't have scientific backing anywhere near the level that most people think it does (through having a powerful lobby, I'd guess--always makes me think of this Simpsons episode). It is basically quackery with the exception of some suggestions that it might help with minor lower back pain, last I checked. It seems about as substantiated as the marshmallow root I take for indigestion, for example, but nobody is saying herbal medicine is equivalent to western medicine or convincing the insurance market to reimburse visits to a herbalist.

It seems to really depend on the chiropractor. Some think they can crank on your neck and cure your asthma, diabetes, COVID, &c. These ones are quacks. However, I just went to mine this morning because my sacroiliac had shifted (it does it a few times a year; crushed pelvis in my teens) and the relief was incredible! Also greatly helped my mother when her shoulder was slightly misaligned after a vacation hauling heavy suitcases. It really depends what you ask them for, what your problem is, your expectations, and if they, or you, or both, are crazy.

Yes, it is. And it annoys me so much that is it covered under my private health insurance while pilates sessions with a qualified physiotherapist (actually good for rehabilitation) no longer are.

Yes, this was in the comments on a post called "College student left paralyzed, only able to communicate by blinking after chiropractic visit", about this video

Nope, a massage therapist absolutely will not do that.

I recently went through medical massage therapy (covered by insurance and everything) with a therapist who specialized in treating primarily breast cancer patients. I suspect she'd have been both horrified and deeply insulted had anyone dared to ask for a "happy ending" from her. And rightfully so.

These men are messed up in the head. They need psychotherapy more than they need massage therapy.

I imagine the advantage of specializing in breast cancer patients is that the likelihood of getting perverted male patients is rather low.

Yeah, those men are messed up in the head, though I am not sure psychotherapy would help them. This guy who specializes on treating male domestic abusers says psychotherapy usually just makes them worse.

Traditional psychotherapy usually relies on the patients wish to change himself.

For those men you'd have to think up an entirely new method that starts with making them feel the shame they should feel for their misogyny, but have avoided feeling for so long.

I think we've done a grave disservice to humanity in general and women/children in particular by trying to eliminate shame. We need a healthy amount of shame for bad behavior. The problem comes in when we feel shame for things that aren't particularly shameful or when we feel shame for things that other people did.
