When your feminism motivates you to tells girls to be sluts and make porn, you are not a feminist.

Exactly. Anything done with the goal of giving men a boner isn’t an empowering or feminist act

I just screenshotted the hell out of this comment because it's perfectly succint.

Well, according to Demo, she’s now a “they”. Which means she shouldn’t really be telling “girls” what to do and she certainly can’t be a feminist.

TRA rules say so.

Aren’t most of her fans teen girls?

Honestly, no. Her fans used to be teens but now they're all grown up and she is a has been.

If this shit is so empowering, why is no one telling this exact same thing to boys? Why aren't they getting groomed into becoming porn stars? Why is no one constantly pressuring them to be sexy and make OnlyFans accounts? You'd think more men would like to be empowered by selling their bodies, but it seems like only women are in high demand as prostitutes. It doesn't even pay well, not unless you already have a built-in audience in social media.

Next time someone here tries to tell me that we have to be more understanding of her and the crap she sprouts publicly, because she's had it so hard in life, I'm going to pull out this post.

Preach. I am still pissed off at the last thread I saw in which someone said exactly that, that she shouldn' t be criticized and judged for the things she says because she had a rough life and she' s doing it as a coping mechanism.

If her coping mechanism leads to the dooming of other women and girls (or anyone, really), then I don' t care about coddling her.

Oh man, that might have been me. I told others that calling her a clown wasn't productive because her life was difficult and her mental health probably isn't good. Didn't realize how far gone she was, definitely won't defend her from name-calling anymore. This is ridiculous. I feel like a clown now 🤡 Sorry!

If that' s all you said, then no, it wasn' t you. I don' t remember who it was, but I don' t think I would have been so ticked off by someone saying that it isn' t productive to name calling her. I would have agreed (and maybe I did in that thread, I don' t remember exactly).

But this was someone who not only criticized the name calling (which was the only thing that made sense), she also said specifically that criticizing her and judging her should have been forbidden. I remember she went after a poster who said something like "Demi is perpetuating sex stereotypes" and she went on a rant about how nobody should criticize her behaviour.

She's got millions for therapy. Zero sympathy from me at this point. So many people would crawl through broken glass to have access to the resources which she does.

Yeah, no. We can only be understanding up to a certain degree. If she keeps spewing harmful things, we cannot be understanding.

And people ask me why I think she's a joke. I used to like her, she was on Disney so of course I watched her shows. She's done such a 180 that it has nothing to do with her other issues, her stance on these things right here are so harmful, it's disgusting, especially considering the target age of her fanbase.

I completely agree. It makes me so sad because I used to be a big fan (a Lovatic, that’s what her fans are called). Lately she’s going downhill and promoting things that I cannot just ignore. Her music is still good, but I can’t take her seriously anymore. I hope she doesn’t negatively influence her fans, but most likely she will.

Count me amongst you. I used to be a fan primarily because I think she's got a good voice and some catchy tunes, but my gosh, this girl is EXHAUSTING.

Once she came out as NB and made that video with Alok I was beyond done.

I loathe this rhetoric. These “sex-positive” people don’t realize you can be sexual without degrading yourself. What a dangerous message.

I think I'm gonna start calling her demibrain if it goes on this way. 😑

Is there an equivalent word for males that have sex with a lot of women? I’ve never heard of a male called a slut.

I think Demi’s on a slow ride off of the deep end.

They are usually positive terms like stud/casanova/lady-killer. But I guess there is manhoe.

I don’t mind women describing their hook ups in positive ways, some people aren’t good with monogamy. They shouldn’t be shamed any more than men. But all of this other crap is ridiculous. I also don’t think reclaiming words is effective. Encouraging teen girls to call themselves sluts, make porn, do bdsm, etc. is just disgusting and horrific.

A fuckboy.

Does it have the same negative connotation as slut does for women?

It's negative but not as bad as slut. It's basically like calling someone a cross between a Chad & manchild.
