She's built like a dang Instagram model. But by the reviews it seems to mostly be women buying it. It's listed as a "goddess statue", but what does it mean to spiritually venerate someone who looks exactly like pop culture wants you to look?

There's also these really popular candles that are just a torso with boobs- searching "female body candles" in google images will show you a ton of them. Most people have different molds so some are skinny and some are fat, some are pregnant, but all of them pretty much have huge boobs. I also feel like the market for these is mostly women.

To me, the candles pretty much all look like the kim kardashian body perfume bottle. (supposedly was modelled off a cast of her actual body but i never believed that claim because it doesn't match.)

I guess I get it - I like the female body shape. I like nude female art as much as the next person. I just would feel weird having statues of boobs in my house personally, especially the candles because it's like the head being on fire and melting the rest of the body away feels really weird to me symbolism wise, and I feel like the crystal statue is just in a weird pose.

But then i feel hypocritical disliking those candles but liking nike of samothrace who also has no arms or head.

Curious what yall think of these items. No shame if you like them, either!

Just looked at this thing and thought “Ewww.” I have zero interest in looking at nude women and this pornified effort is just 🤢.

Also the Nike of Samothrace isn’t nude and wasn’t made lacking head and arms.

This one is even worse imo than the last time someone posted about this. The pose is porny. Yesterday I saw one that looked a lot like my figure and I thought it was ok but I just don’t like beheaded torsos. Like you I also have a bad feeling about burning / melting a human figure. On the other hand spirituality and worship more often than not includes idealism and ideal beauty so maybe that’s what this is.

Maybe. I mean to me that's the same thing behind "manifesting" and pinterest boards dedicated to a certain aesthetic in a sense

I have a Dorothea Tanning print where the subject's breasts are exposed but it never read as sexual to me. The candles remind me of that boob shirt trend that was happening a while back. Not my fav.

Lol wasn't the first popular boob shirt a vivienne westwood? Anyway... can't say they're my favorite either...

Just another way that women’s spirituality is broken and remoulded to fit the male gaze.

Ugh. May as well hang those mudflaps with the silver women on your walls.

This is just porn, like the truck mud flaps. Its customer base is male, not female.

I have realistic womens body art in my house but it’s like handmade and shows rolls and isn’t pornified. I also personally make vulva art and hang it in my place. I haven’t had a male in my house since my dad helped me move in so I don’t feel weird about it. These statues feel porny though. I like more of the goddess stuff

Your post made me get up and check out the breasts on the little statue I have on my altar. They're medium-sized, and hanging, not bubbly. They look like real breasts, not porn breasts.

I think a lot of women buy them as fertility goddesses which is why they have such exaggerated hips and boobs. At least this one has a head! I don’t mind them if they’re done well but agree that this one seems pornified.

Many many years ago I was in a largely female art space and I bought several art glass bowls/trays with nude female bodies on them (not super porny, just abstracted) as well as several very small oil paintings of a similar style. I loved them at the time and still display them, but I admit I'm not sure if I should keep displaying them. I'm not sure where the line is anymore, because it felt like a celebration of the female body at the time (made by women not explicitly to pander to males), but now I'm so repulsed by porn and objectification, it doesn't quite feel the same.

For me the statues aren't the very worst, but the giant, perky breasts and pose don't feel right to me.
