TikTok's New, Terrible Trend

Was surprised to see Wired cover this, it's really been bothering me too. There's a woman on the stand literally recounting her domestic violence experience and people are using it to make videos mocking her. And it doesn't just affect her, it's an insult to all DV/abuse victims to laugh at the subject. I've been removing the videos from my fyp but I'm glad to see an outlet speaking up about it.

People have been chomping at the bit to be able to hate on women. The "Karen" thing unleashed a lot. The "white women X" unleashed more.

I really don't see how the backlash is going to end.

it makes me feel sick. like, people just go back to old days when everyone is entitled to taunt, mock and humiliate a woman without suffering the consequences.

Now none of these people can deny their participation in the public harassment and abuse of Amber Heard like they've tried to with Britney.

Horrible horrible horrible people. Mindless drones who are extremely suceptible to propaganda. I'm personally offended that those of us with normal levels of human intelligence and compassion are forced to live among them.

Exactly, the lack of compassion is jarring. You see it play out over and over with women who aren't the "perfect victim". They're even going after Evan Rachel Wood for speaking out against Manson.

Peaking and learning about feminism really makes you realize how many peoples intelligence is scarily close to chimps... With the aggression to match!

People are so excited to have this opportunity to rabidly tear a woman down.

It makes me sick, I've blocked so many accounts and clicked on not interested and still get so many tiktoks on this subject.

It's so triggering. I want to shake some sense into all those self righteous people, they are the same ones who say they'd defend Britney but look at how they're mindless drones tearing Amber down.

They'd be awful to Britney in the 90's.

Ive never seen a DV victim say it didnt hurt when she got hit

You cannot know what all people say. It’s a very private act. Abusers rarely abuse in public let alone on tape for mass comparison

When I discipline my kids by taking something away they will sometimes pretend they didn’t care about it.

It’s the same idea of not wanting to give the other person power.

An abused person can be trying to keep a shred of dignity and power

It leads to not being ’the perfect victim’ though

Have you watched her testimony?

I’ve watched her testimony and read the 129 page finding document composed by the Judge in the UK libel trial against The Sun. It paints a pretty clear picture that Johnny Depp was the abuser: insanely jealous and possessive, destructive and violent especially during drug fueled rages, and surrounding himself with “yes” men who did anything he asked. The text messages show a manipulative, deeply misogynistic man. According to Amber’s therapists, she took pride in fighting back and refusing to back down. It doesn’t surprise me that she said that on the stand.

Ok, theres also no pictures of any marks left on her

There are plenty of pictures of her injuries and there are witnesses to her injuries, including makeup artists, her nurse, her sister, and some of her friends.

So the world should be run based on your personal experiences and what you've personally observed?

We're doomed.

Just call her a lying c*nt and move on. It's clear that's your goal.

No, but reality matters.

Have you watched her trial?

Kinda sounds like you haven’t watched it if I’m being honest.

But maybe two can play at this stupid game. I’ve never seen an innocent person being accused of abuse who laughs and smirks when their purported victim describes being sexually assaulted and abused by them.

Did she say that? Or did he say that? I haven't watched all the testimony, so I may have missed that part.

I think they both said it, actually. Johnny about the time his finger tip was cut off and Amber about, I think, the first time Johnny slapped her.

She said it. She describes him hitter her, that it didnt hurt. There are no pictures of her injuries
