So Im 5'2 used to be 230 lbs and now I'm 156lbs (goal 120) but my breasts didn't shrink at all. Not even a centimeter. My doctor told me to try weight loss first before breast reduction and I get that so I have. But nothing now except them causing me a neverending amount of pain and numbness and tingling. It feels like absolutely no bra I buy offers any kind of legitimate support. They are so heavy and bothersome I almost wanna cry about it. It's causing issues in my shoulders, my hands, my chest, my elbows, my back, my breathing, how I walk, what I can wear. Everything in my closet doesn't fit right and every day I'm trying on 80 different shirts just to try and be comfortable at all at work. It's gotten so bad I've barely moved or done anything outside of work. I plan on seeing the doctor again about this but even if I do the process to actualy get reduction (and if it's even covered :/) will take many months and probably longer than usual because covid as well. I do exercise a lot bc yes I count my job as that because I'm on my feet 9 hrs stocking. So I have gained muscle a lot and tried that to help but it hasn't either. Please does anyone have anything I can do in the meantime I'm losing my fucking mind. and if I don't get approved or covered idk what I'm going to do. I don't want to live like this forever.

First off, good for you for losing a lot of weight. I am sorry your boobs are not cooperating, but I am sure your overall health has improved!

Second, I think you should really push for the reduction and for it to be covered. Especially since you lost a lot of weight and saw zero improvement. Your symptoms and the degree it is affecting your health, comfort, and well-being absolutely should be enough. Start journaling to keep track of how it's impacting you each day so you can really make your doctor understand. It will be a long process but get it started now.

Third, and I will fully admit that this is just a shot in the dark that may not help, but I wonder if some sort of compression garment would be more comfortable than a bra? Not a binder, obviously, but like a tight stretchy tanktop or body suit. I don't know, maybe that's a crazy thought. I just feel like it might take some of the weight off your shoulders.

Maybe physical therapy? I know it sounds hopeless but they really can give you relatively easy exercises that can help improve your posture which might have some positive impact. It's possible that your gait and body mechanics haven't adjusted to your weight loss so maybe your posture has actually gotten worse.

I am sorry! It sounds like it's beyond what you should have to tolerate and a reduction would make a big difference. Hang in there <3

PT helped me with back issues from congenital scoliosis. It helped a LOT. I wished I’d gone sooner. Just throwing in that even though it’s not the same thing.

I have a good friend who is a PT and she says that it is extremely effective for many things if people do the exercises. It's very much evidence based! I am glad it helped you! That's awesome 💪
