That was a fascinating read, thank you for posting! The sex ratio was a big factor!

Comparable to China, in some respects. The one-child policy meant millions of families invested time and resources into female children which otherwise would have gone to their younger brothers, and left the following generations of Chinese women in a “buyer’s market” when it comes to relationships.

Which obviously was not worth the dreadful cost of untold millions of female lives and the barbaric reproductive coercion of hundreds of millions more via forced abortions and sterilisations, lest I’m in danger of being misunderstood.
