This is just crazy. They're all really just going to spend years harassing this woman for having the nerve to live?

It sure seems like it – that and/or the rcmp have decided there were more people in on it, so they are trying to pressure her to name names. Never mind that what they are really doing is setting up the emotional conditions for family feuding in that town.

That’s exactly what they’re mad about. She was supposed to be the victim because women’s purpose is to contain men’s violence so it doesn’t bother everyone else. She also needs punishment because she ‘failed’ as a wife.

There are a few stupid enough to think he wouldn’t have gone on his rampage at all if he had managed to kill her, but I bet most are thinking there would have been 1 less innocent victim had she gotten what she ‘deserved’. It’s all there right under the surface in the comments I’ve seen. There are also the Alex Jones types. Misogyny factors in either way.

They’d be angry at the multiple men who knew about his weapons and him being abusive if their anger was about anything else.

It's sad that she has allowed them to get to her and now she's apologizing for living instead of dying.

Not ex-partner... SMH

There is definitely an undercurrent of trying to blame the ex because supposedly it is suspicious that after escaping from him she hid in terror in the woods instead of running to the police – even though he was running around in a fake rcmp cruiser and she would have been more likely to run into him, not the rcmp who never put two and two together about the actual shooter for over a decade before he went on his rampage.

I should add for clarity that my criticism is for the CBC on this because as what should be a responsible journalistic outlet they should be more careful with their headlines and article text. I am not criticising the families who lost their loved ones.

But I mean, we gotta be realistic here... We can't expect them to get everybody's pronouns right AND still pay mind to these rusty old relics of Your Grampappy's Journalism, like "facts".
