I’ve been looking for older feminist material to read lately and I’ve heard about Spare Rib quite often. I was delighted to find a link to the journal archives which should contain all the issues, but they have been removed.

There is simply a small note saying where to email for enquiries about its removal.

Is this something the publishers of Spare Rib initiated or are they trying to quietly erase the history of feminism?

I followed the links around; it's a brexit thing. It had protection under EU rules before; now those rules don't apply so they can't host the digitised version without violating copyright, so they've taken it down. Blame the Tories.

We cannot rely on internet archives as they are not true archives. Do not be fooled.
