Petition to Australian Parliament
Petition Reason Transgender ideology is infiltrating culture, school curriculum, media, social media and marketing. Despite the lack of scientific basis, an unquestioning affirmation approach to treat gender dysphoria is used by gender clinics and being adopted into law by some Australian States. Children and young people experiencing gender confusion receive risky medical treatment resulting in dire life-long health repercussions. Minors are being prescribed puberty blocker hormones as a precursor to sex change surgery. Australian children, too young to get a tattoo, have had healthy body parts amputated despite eminent medical professionals calling for psychological issues to be addressed before giving unproven treatments involving hormones and surgery. Young Australians are emerging who regret treatments which have left them scarred and infertile for the remainder of their lives. There is a growing de-transitioner movement. Following the closure of the UK Tavistock gender, around 1,000 families plan legal action over gross negligence, rushing teenagers into irreversible, life-altering decisions including taking life-changing puberty blocking drugs. Countries such as Sweden, Finland, France and UK are reviewing, re-evaluating, stopping, or advising caution on the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents. It is our belief that young people are inadequately educated, or completely unaware, about the risks when they initiate the process of transitioning.
Petition Request We therefore ask the House to conduct a formal, independent, Parliamentary inquiry to investigate what should be the foundation of medical best practice in treating gender confusion in children and young adults.
