Today I read the text of Canada's Bill 6 in order to help my neighbor write to her MP.

This is what I found.

This is the preamble to Bill 6:

Whereas conversion therapy causes harm to the persons, and in particular [to] the children, who are subjected to it;

Whereas conversion therapy causes harm to society because, among other things, it is based on and propagates myths and stereotypes about sexual orientation and gender identity, including the myth that a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity can and ought to be changed;

And whereas, in light of those harms, it is important to discourage and denounce the provision of conversion therapy in order to protect the human dignity and equality of all Canadians;

That makes it look like Bill 6 is meant to stop children from being transitioned.

A good thing!

HOWEVER, it's a deliberate deception. Lower down they define "conversion" as keeping the child the same sex they already are.

Conversion Therapy

Definition of conversion therapy

320.‍101 In sections 320.‍102 to 320.‍106, conversion therapy means a practice, treatment or service designed to change a person’s sexual orientation to heterosexual or gender identity to cisgender.

Notice that "conversation therapy" is very specifically NOT defined as: "change a person's gender identity to transgender."

They're doing two really horrible things here:

1. They're claiming that "conversion therapy" is "changing the child to cisgender" i.e. keeping the child the same sex they already are

2. They're lumping trans issues together with sexual orientation

It is not "conversion" to stay the way you already are. That is SUCH an evil thing for them to bury in the small print.

And transgender issues have nothing whatsoever to do with sexual orientation. They have latched onto the gay community because it provides them cover. They are literally wolves in sheeps' clothing.

So this Bill 6 is a horrifying manipulation of the law, meant to legally stop anyone from speaking up against transitioning children.

You want to tell your MPs:

• You oppose medically transitioning children

• You oppose calling it "conversion therapy" to keep children's bodies the way they already are

• You support children remaining the sex they already are, until they are 18 and can make their own decisions about their bodies

• And you are shocked at this horrifying manipulation of the law meant to legally stop anyone from speaking up against medically transitioning children

My god, these people are evil.

I wrote a sample letter for her to send to her MP. Please feel free to use it:

Dear Member of Parliament,

We are liberal Canadians, and we are writing to instruct you, as our MP, to vote NO on Bill 6.

We repeat: vote NO on Bill 6.

This is a national emergency, in which all Canadian children are being endangered by duplicitous legal language and a blatant attempt to deceive Canadian voters. Bill 6 is a dangerous and dishonest bill, written specifically to convince Canadians that we are voting for the exact opposite of what this bill stipulates.

The preamble to Bill 6 states:

Whereas conversion therapy causes harm. . .in particular [to] the children . .including the myth that a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity can and ought to be changed;

This preamble sounds to the average Canadian as though Bill 6 is meant to stop a child's gender identity from being medically changed.

However, in the legal language of Bill 6, "conversion therapy" is defined as:

to change a person’s. . .gender identity to cisgender.

Conversion therapy is very specifically NOT defined as:

to change a person's gender identity to transgender.

This means that the average Canadian, who believes they are voting to stop the medical transitioning of children, is, in fact, voting for the exact opposite: to force us to allow the medical transitioning of our children.

Bill 6 can NOT be passed in its current form. It must be altered to remove "gender identity" and resubmitted as protection for "sexual orientation" and "sexual orientation" only.

Otherwise, Canadians will be legally forced to submit to the reckless and irresponsible medical conversion of our children to transgender. And we will be unable to object, under penalty of law.

Edit: Also, Bill 6 would introduce the word "cisgender" to the criminal code, where it currently does not appear.
