I hope this is the right place for this (or if such a thing exists please point me to it) but wouldn't it be awesome to have an ongoing list of companies to support because they don't bow down to TRA ideology in their messaging (ideally woman owned?) And a corresponding list of companies to totally avoid?
I mean the reason why many companies choose that route is because it will make them money. So it would be awesome to show that we too have a purchasing power.
We could post companies in the comments and if it's helpful then pin it somewhere? Thoughts?
I definitely can't think of any to support. I can tell you who not to support based on this issue:
Lush, https://www.lushusa.com/transrights.html
The Body Shop (Under the L'oreal conglomerate, all in all a bad company to support for a host of reasons including animal cruelty and even racism, advertising skin lightening products in affected nations), https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslondon/the-body-shop-sparks-outrage-as-it-wades-into-jk-rowling-transgender-row/ar-BB15joA3
The Diva Cup, https://divacup.com/our-story/ Go to "Why Diva?"
Some of these companies are doing good things for the planet and animals in contrast with their competitors. So take that into consideration if you absolutely cannot find a women-advocating market competitor to instead support. Unfortunately these days options are extremely limited. Even corporations which do not expressly advocate for this movement (perhaps to avoid alienating customers), may still have links and ties to this branch of the medical industrial complex and be profiting off of it. It's best these days to do more research, but even then it's hard to really know.
I've been using pads designed by a company that makes baby diapers https://lapetiteourse.ca/en
They are great!
Kinda like hannah pads but they don't call women "menstruators" on the front page
fuck. I had seen Hannah use "women" in their Facebook description but as I look at their actual Facebook posts, it's a lot of "people" and "person" instead of "women." Guess I'm taking that link off my site.
Tbh I don't think Always did anything awful, they just removed the venus symbol from packaging. If it makes life a bit easier for dysphoric females it's acceptable to me. AFAIK they didn't use dehumanising language which is the main issue I have with some of these companies.
That said I prefer reuseable and environmentally friendly options which Always are not ✌️
They might have done that in the UK but they minimized them on USA packaging and they still have their #LikeAGirl tag, which I found infantilizing but at this point I'll take any willing mention of female people. And the Venus symbol is part of the Kotex logo. I still use Always because they have the biggest overnight pads on the market and y'all, I need those more often than not.
I have a sewing machine now though so that may change.
Hell, I'd sell pads but I need an FDA license to do it, which is insulting. I don't have the couple thousand it would take.
If someone recommends me a good period tracker app, I'd be grateful. To avoid: Clue
If a website is OK, I've been using cyclespage.com for years. YEARS. It suffices.
I've been using Flo but I don't know if it's a good option. I think they might be owned by some big conglomerate...
As to menstrual products- what do you think of Knix? I haven't seen anything weird on their ig so far as their focus seems to be on mothers?
I have a list on my site so far of companies that don't seem awful.
Some are reusable, some disposable, some based in the UK and USA and some elsewhere. I add and subtract as I see new information.
You may want to add mamabear baby wear. She also has a "lady wear" line of reusable pads. Idk if she'll qualify since she's not a traditional "business" but she's a mother and widow from kentucky.
Oatly are heavily pushing the trans agenda:
I've seen that. Awful! Like their product has anything to do with that anyway. I've been drinking earth's own oat milk and it's the best anyway.
That being said it would be great to see more companies on this list that are not just focused on feminine products .
I really hate that they’re doing thus because their Barista milk is so good in coffee and I’ve struggled to find anything that compares. I will check out Earth’s Own. Also maybe will try making my own.
Earth's own is amazing! Their unsweetened original is always sold out in my store. I haven't been able to get it because it flies off the shelves. I tried vanilla is qlso good but original is 🔥🔥🔥
I have heard as well of an Indian company called The Woman's Company , but I'm not sure how do they work.
Fabulous idea, thanks :)
Once this list is complete, we could send them a letter letting them know this is happening!
Could also maybe reach out to some to see what their stance is?
It would be great! I hope for more comments as i don't know that many companies to support myself.
But i saw that Michelle Romanow follows on twitter some rad fems so perhaps clearbank and other companies she's associated with?
I think at this point it might be good to ask companies just to understand the lie of the land. I only really know a couple of media outlets.
I’ve been boycotting all Proctor and Gamble products (P&G), they’re the owners of Tampax, always and Kotex period products. All of these brands have called women people who menstruate so I’m boycotting everything P&G. Etsy to avoid because they don’t sell radfem products but do sell violence against women products. I’m also avoiding eBay because they donate a lot of money to trans organizations.
I'm saddened to hear about eBay, shit.
I know. Etsy was a tough blow for me. There’s so many stores now that I avoid because of this trans mess. Absolut vodka and ASOS too. They donate money to trans orgs.
I’ve seen a decent amount of radfem stuff on Etsy? NYC Radfems sell their zine on there.
There was a couple of well known radfems that have had their stores taken down on etsy for selling “transphobic” merch like woman: adult human female shirts. One of them I believe was Vanessa something, the radfem YouTuber. There was another one too, I think it was QuickStitch? The TRAs mass report radfem art and etsy ruled that woman: adult human female was against their tos but they don’t think anything is wrong with punch terf merchandise
That’s so depressing.
It is, I used to buy a lot from etsy. If I recall correctly they also briefly deemed “I ♥️ JK Rowling” as transphobic and banned all jk merch but there was a lot of backlash and they ended up rescinding.
@Vanessa QSC is on here too. She keeps getting kicked off if online stores. Red bubble and teespring too. I was lucky enough to get tote bags and a fridge magnet before redbubble cancelled her.
