Feminist OrganizationRadical Net -- a network to connect and integrate radical feminists
Posted February 15, 2021 by qgfeminista in Activism

Hi sisters! How are you holding up?

(we are a radical feminist collective from Brazil! we'll introduce ourselves in the comments section)

Let us share with you all a work in progress that will be launched in a couple of months (or so).

It's called Radical Net.

The idea is to integrate and connect all radical feminist organizations, campaigns and media from all over the world. Radical Net is a site where you'll be able to see, in a map (powered by google maps), "pins" of registered collectives in different regions of the world, so that you can reach out to the nearest one.

We're also planning to use a communication/collab workspace platform which all the collectives and organizations can join up and exchange experiences, form regional alliances, and organize in general.

That's why we're trying to "map" all radical collectives who have a presence online (through instagram, twitter, and eventually facebook and ... neither). So that when the site is launched, we can easily get in touch with them and just say "hey, want to be on our network?".

If any of you want to help us on these "mapping" efforts, get in touch! Any help will be much appreciated.

In sisterhood! xx

Let us present ourselves!

We are QG Feminista, an online radical feminist magazine and grassroots organization from Brazil. We were stablished in August/2017, hoping to put together in one place all radical feminist materials and resources that were all scattered around different blogs, sites, and social networks. We're also dedicated to translating much original material from feminist authors, since there isn't much of their work "officially" translated and published (for instace, NONE of Dworkin's, MacKinnon's or Jeffrey's work has been translated -- not to mention newer authors, like the Spanish ones). For instace, Silvia Federici's "Caliban and the Witch" just got a translation in 2017... Gerda Lerner's "The Creation of Patriarchy" also came out in 2019. Anyway, you got the picture. Radical Feminists in BR who are proficient in any other language often do "guerrilla" translations.

When we began our work, radical feminists either weren't talked of, or were demonised (associated with FEMEN or called "TERFs", obviously"). Since the 90's, we have had ONE SINGLE famous female scholar who is openly radical. For all we know, the first >radical feminist< collectives started forming around 2013/2014, and, according to GARRA Feminista, another Radical Feminist collective that has been active since 2014, in one point they managed to "map" around 7 or 8 radical collectives in Brazil, in 2017. Until 2019, only 3 had remained.

But we managed to "spread the word". QG Feminista is pretty succesful for a radical feminist page: we have 105k followers; we have been called many times to give our opinions to the media on many subjects (mostly prostitution and pornography - which is awesome, because there has NEVER been a dissident opinion such as ours being shown) and, surprisingly, we have managed to avoid prosecution and "cancellation", despite having already had punctual problems one time or another.

Our work, combined with early efforts from our sisters who came before us, paid off: last year, we saw a "boom" of radical feminist pages and campaigns in Brazil -- outside of our own little network. We're growing, after all!

Take a look at our medium, our site and our instagram (/@ qgfeminista). Naturally it's completely in PT-BR, but just so you know a little bit of our work.

We will be posting here more often! xx

Fantastic project! Thank you for your work. This is so important for women to share information about our experiences and radical thoughts for changing the world. Please feel free to share insights or passages on circles like /o/WomensLiberation or /o/WomensHistory .

This is a fantastic idea!! I’ve always felt that all women centered collectives need globe spanning reach. We are unbeatable unified like this and the potential excites me greatly. I’m in NYC and in the early stages of my own org and when I’m ready I will come back to you to link up..

Awesome!! I’m so THRILLED to see South American women organizing like this! As a woman from a third world country, this gives me so much hope!
