Dear U.S. Signatories,

It has come to our attention that the House of Representatives has amended the Paycheck Fairness Act to include a new definition of the word sex (below). We also understand that the bill is up for a House vote this week. Here is the new definition:

SEC. 2. ENHANCED ENFORCEMENT OF EQUAL PAY REQUIREMENTS.

(a) DEFINITIONS—Section 3 of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. 203) is amended by adding at the end the following:

‘‘(z) ‘Sex’ includes—

‘‘(1) a sex stereotype; ‘‘(2) pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition; ‘‘(3) sexual orientation or gender identity; and ‘‘(4) sex characteristics, including intersex traits. ‘‘(aa) ‘Sexual orientation’ includes homosexuality, heterosexuality, and bisexuality. ‘‘(bb) ‘Gender identity’ means the gender-related identity, appearance, mannerisms, or other gender-related characteristics of an individual, regardless of the individual’s designated sex at birth.’’

We don't need to tell you how terrible this development is for women and girls. We must all take serious action against this now. Please copy the text below and paste it into the "Message" field of this form (to Nancy Pelosi's office), and send immediately!!

Dear Speaker Pelosi,

I am a woman in the United States and I desperately want to close the sex pay gap. Women and girls deserve better! However, I see that the House has amended the Paycheck Fairness Act to include a definition of sex that is disastrous for women and girls. The definition is as follows:

Women and girls are not a stereotype. We are not a "gender identity." The Declaration on Women's Sex-Based Rights, signed by more than 16,000 people worldwide, explains why the redefinition of sex to mean "gender identity" is a threat to women and girls everywhere. Women are being obliterated as a class by the redefinition of sex to include "gender identity" throughout the law. Please save this important legislation by removing the definition of sex outlined above, and replace it with this accurate definition: "(z) 'Sex' means: the differentiation between male and female, determined by whether an X-bearing sperm or a Y-bearing sperm fertilized the X-bearing ovum, which determines the type of sexual and reproductive organs that develop, and the biological differences between females and males."
