New Zealand’s fully decriminalised system of prostitution is held up by global sex industry lobbyists. They CLAIM it is the best and safest system for women, and the only one that protects their human rights. However, this is very very far from the truth. But NZ is such a small country, so far away, with so many vested interests, it is difficult to understand the reality.
Ally-Marie Diamond has been working so hard to change all this. She has been nurturing three women who have survived the sex trade in NZ and who are ready to explain the reality of how NZ’s system is in fact a disaster for women – for those directly involved and for all its women. Now they are trying to get to the 4th World Congress for the Abolition of Prostitution in Montreal organised by CAP international @CAPintl so they can meet other survivors and learn from the international movement – but they need financial help to get there. #EqualityInAction

Yes, I used to like the gc sidebar for that because it linked to sites with stats.
I honestly think some sort of wiki would be best. There’s so many studies and articles. I was in an argument with a tra recently, and I referenced the studies that showed over 90% of trans children desisted if they were left alone to go through a natural puberty. Her response was to show how that’s not true because she had a study that showed trans children stay trans when given puberty blockers. Like, that’s not even comparable. A major variable is different.
Obviously a big reason TRAs think they’re right is because most of them don’t understand the scientific method, or how to read a study so they don’t see when a study has been poorly designed, and most of all they don’t see the difference between pseudoscience and actual science. So I think it would be great if we could have as many trans related studies (or archived links to them) available in some organized database. I’d make it if I knew anything about programming.
Yeah, I'm not very tech savvy, I don't know how to do it myself. I can help sort through and organise links. Like separate into categories (like violence, detrans, sports, erasure) and it doesn't have to be exclusively relating to trans, but any data that concerns women. We could all do a little brainstorming.
(Edit for wording)
it doesn't have to be exclusively relating to trans, but any data that concerns women.
For sure! I have lots of links for that too. Arguing against TRAs, and anyone else who doesn’t understand how deep misogyny is embedded in society, can be quiet tedious. So many of our arguments overlap, and it can make it difficult to argue any point using other proven points rad fems have. I’m constantly having to go search through my files looking for the exact study they need in order to move forward with the argument. I add new sources to my saved research almost every day, and I keep it as organized as I can, but it really needs tidied. It would be so helpful if there was just a database with cross referenced tags. Anyone who wants to create it, I’m more than willing to help contribute!
If you want to suggest something for a specific circle, message a moderator of that circle.
Let me know if you do it. I have tons of links.
I can help organising the links, sure. Not sure where to post it, though. Maybe one of the mods could give me some direction?
That’s a huge understatement! I thought I had a ton of links. I mean, I do now because I saved your posts full of links. Thanks, btw!
You're very welcome! Please share them everywhere. :)
Same.
