I think a lot of mischief will come from the phrase "gender apartheid," which will be used by TRAs to argue against single-sex spaces.

I don't think we should be afraid to use certain words just because somebody else might also use them. If anything, I think it's good to point out what gender apartheid really is, just like what genocide actually means. A man not being able to pee in women's toilet is neither apartheid nor genocide.

And while I prefer 'sex apartheid,' I do think that the only valid use of the word 'gender' in this context (and most others) is as a synonym for sex. TRA's know it; their whole ideology relies on confusing people with equivocation on words like gender.

We can react to this by abandoning the word as tainted, or by continuing to use it in its true meaning. Gender is sex. Even if you define gender as sex-based stereotypes. It's sex.

Why can't it be called 'sex apartheid' I wonder? The list of boxes is always: "sex, race, ethnicity'.
