Questionlengthening knit socks
Posted August 29, 2022 by Tokenmom in ArtsAndYarns

I knit a pair of socks for my kid a while back and his feet have since grown (as they do) so the socks are a bit too short in the foot but still seem to fit well enough around the ankle. I was planning on making a new pair of socks for him, but I was wondering if anybody has unpicked a finished sock to add length? it is a basic top-down, stockinette stitch sock pattern. It should be pretty straight forward... right? Has anyone done something similar before?

You can just cut away! (or. um. tink back). Then pick up stitches and make it longer.

so I've never heard the term tink back. It wasn't until I started googling it that I realized "oh, that's knit spelled backwards" and I do it at least a dozen times per knit project. lol. It's good to have a name for it. :)
