Idea taken from this discussion.

The picture is not definitive but gives the idea. If mods will like it I'll be more than eager to perfect it :)

I love the unsubtle one... radical feminists are not known for our subtlety 😭

RadfemBlackApril 24, 2021

Really? But all the terf dogwhistles!

BlackCirceApril 24, 2021

I stand corrected! I forgot that we also can covertly shapeshift into tradwife damsels in distress

[Deleted]April 24, 2021

I like the subtler one.

RegularFeministApril 24, 2021

I vote for the subtle one)

Unsubtle

DiabolicalPinkBunnyApril 24, 2021

Subtle one.

ouvalemondeartsy fartsyApril 24, 2021

I vote unsubtle!

DebraKadabraApril 25, 2021

This is adorable and I hope she catches on!

I love this because all calicos have two x chromosomes* and, with the exception of rare xxy male calicos, all calicos are female. :D

*This is through a process called x-inactivation. To keep things short: each XX cell (in cats humans and other placental mammals) will only "listen" to signals from one x chromosome and "ignore" signals from the other. The black and orange (or grey and cream in my dilute calico cat's case) result from some patches listening (among other things) to the black signal from one chromosome or the orange signal from the other.

Cats can't have both a black and orange signal coming from the same chromosome. Because of that, XY cats will only get one or the other (or some version of it, such as grey, cream, white etc), potentially with hue variations such as stripes, spots, etc.

The moral of the story: you can paint some orange spots on an XY black and white cat and call it a calico, but science knows all calicos have 2 X chromosomes. ;)

Thanks for the explanation! It was very interesting :D

Thanks for saying so!! I was nervous because sure I wasn't sure how common knowledge this is and did want to come off as condescending so this is reassuring ☺️

dixiechick547April 23, 2021

I adore her. I love calicoes anyway.

RawSiennaApril 23, 2021

[Deleted]April 24, 2021

Yes, she’s the one!

[Deleted]April 24, 2021

I love her! What do we called her?

LasagnaRossa [OP]April 24, 2021

I don't know, I haven't thought that far haha

[Deleted]April 27, 2021

Hrm, I think she should be Evie, short for evil TERF cat haha

Just like us, she is an unfairly maligned cat who cares about women!

LasagnaRossa [OP]April 27, 2021

Uh, I like that! Well, calling her plain "Eve" is interesting too :D but Evie sounds more appropriate for a cat

bannedrui_resinApril 24, 2021
