If you could make anything- money and time are not a limitation- what would it be?
What have you always wanted to make but haven't been able to get around to?
Is there a new skill you want to learn specifically to be able to make something?
I'm picking up needle felting mostly because I want to be able to make ornaments or cute little seasonal decorations.
I've linked to an archive because the Wikipedia article is rated "medium" or "low" importance, and we know what happens to Wikipedia articles about women.
I happened across the story of this badass woman because Timothy Snyder (the historian of Ukraine) mentioned how she was called a Nazi for attempting to organize relief for the victims of the Ukraine famine (the Holodomor) of 1932–33. Ironically her mother was Jewish.
How do you find the importance rating on a Wikipedia article?
Click on the Talk tab. That also tells you if there's any ongoing discussion, which can be enlightening if the subject is controversial.
Thank you. For some reason it doesn't show on my phone, but it did when I tried on my computer.
I read about the assessments and her rating does seem too low :(
There's at least one person here who insists the Holodomor didn't happen. She has ridiculed anyone who knows it happened as a chump who fell for Nazi propaganda.
It happened and Rudnytska put her life on the line to expose it.
Yes, I didn't keep careful track but I did become aware we probably had a Russian propagandist here.
A Jewish friend of mine told me the other day that her grandmother, who was in Belarus during WWII, told her that when the Nazis came she and most people she knew welcomed them, because they couldn't imagine anything worse than Stalinism.
I think she's just a tankie, but let her cope and seethe.
Thanks for the new word, and thanks, internet, for defining it for me!
